Michael Jordan, arguably one of the GOATs of NBA, recently made some surprising comments. According to the six-time champion, he wouldn’t have survived the social media era.
Jordan, in an unearthed interview, made this interesting revelation.
“It’s to the point where some people have been able to utilize it to their financial gain and things of that nature. I don’t know if I could’ve survived in this Twitter era, where you don’t have the privacy that you’d want and what seems to be very innocent can always be misinterpreted.”

During Jordan’s playing days, social media influence was not as great as it is today. Following these comments by the NBA legend, ESPN’s The Jump reacted to them.
“It would have been tough, it’s definitely a different time now. Social media has been the greatest gift that we could say we have had and the biggest curse that we have. One of the reasons why it is the biggest curse because of lot of idiot voices,” said Matt Barnes. “A lot of negative people with a lot of negative energy would just say random stuff they would never say to your face.
“So I think if MJ played in this era, he would have been more closed off than he already was… Everything is about timing, luckily he didn’t had to deal with this.”

Could Michael Jordan have survived the social media era?
While on the court, Michael Jordan had a towering presence and an unmatched mentality. He was much more reserved about his life off the court. Even in “The Last Dance” documentary, Jordan discussed the negative impact of being in the constant spotlight.
