Miami Heat brought back their Slovenian sniper Goran Dragic. Hoping to reach the heights of last season, they understand the value of keeping their core together. And even though Dragic wasn’t a starter in the regular season, he was one in the more important postseason.
Averaging 16.2 points a game off the bench, he is a proper team player. After his contract expired, he entered free agency. And he duly returned to the Eastern Conference champions by putting pen to paper on a 2-year deal that will net him $18 million in the 2020-21 season.
The 2nd-year is a team option. Nevertheless, he was glad to be back – “Happy to be back. That was my plan, to come back, but in this crazy business you never know.”

Miami Heat Put Billboards in Slovenia
The current Eastern Conference Champions put billboards in Slovenia to tempt him to stay. The Billboards roughly translate to ‘Your second family is always with you.’ Goran appreciated the organization’s thoughtfulness and said –

“I was in the car with my wife and her brother, and they drove me past those billboards. I didn’t know; They told me nothing. They just said, ‘Look to the right.’ And when I saw myself, saw what they said, it really touched my heart.
“This is my home. I want to stay here in Miami. I appreciate Pat Riley, Andy Elisburg, the whole organization, and what they did for me.”

What next for Heat?
The NBA Finalists defied all odds last season. The likes of Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Milwaukee Bucks were all heavily favored above them from East.
However, the Jimmy Butler-led outfit managed to prove their doubters wrong by playing some inspirational basketball along the way.

It is important to point out that Dragic’s deal for the season after is only a team option. Meaning they have the option of creating more cap space in 2021.
