Miami Heat has lost their first Finals game against the LeBron-led Lakers in an embarrassing fashion. Purple-gold fans must be in awe of the dominance that their team displayed throughout the match. But on the other hand, Jimmy Butler and co. went to the locker room disappointed, after a 116-98 defeat to the Lakers.

It was quite an upsetting day for the Miami Heat after the intense fight they put up to reach the Finals of the season. They began the game with a 23-10 lead, only to see it vanish by the end of the first quarter.

Jimmy Butler was the highest scorer for Heat with 23 points. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to restrict the massive forces playing against him. Butler was knocking down a great 61.5% from the floor. However, he had to exit the game with a minor ankle injury.

To add to the dismay of the East champions, the other two key players, Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo, went back to the locker room. They couldn’t play the entire second half due to their respective injuries. The possibility of the two making it to the next game seems bleak but not yet decided.

Miami’s Jae Crowder struggled his way on the court last night, shooting a mere 4-for-28 from the field.

After Miami took up an early lead in the game, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope knocked back-to-back threes. Ultimately, Lakers led the game from thereon with 65-48 at halftime.

Heat Star Jimmy Butler doesn’t want to say anything to his teammates

As the game ended in Lakers’ favor, Jimmy Butler believes in “no excuses” for their loss. He owned up to Miami’s poor performance in Game 1 during the post-game press conference.

Jimmy would like to say ‘nothing’ to his teammates after this defeat, he believes everybody knows the mistakes they made. “We talk about how damn near perfect that we have to play, and that was nowhere near it. There’s nothing to be said,” Butler said.

“We can watch all the film in the world, we understand, we know what we did not do, what we talked about, we were going to do, we didn’t do,” Butler added. “We didn’t rebound, we didn’t make them miss any shots, we didn’t get back, all of those things led to the deficit that we put ourselves in.”

Well, now that Miami Heat is 1-0 down, they need to pull themselves up against bigs like LeBron James and Anthony Davis. It will be tough to move on in the series if Dragic and Adebayo aren’t back, but we need to wait for those updates.
