The Knicks have been looking for a new franchise player for a long time now. Maybe acquiring Westbrook will solve their problems and give the city of New York a new hope. Westbrook has also been known to thrive in teams where he is the sole superstar.
Even with OKC, Westbrook blossomed into a superstar in the post-Kevin Durant era. The Knicks will hope for more of the same from the former MVP if they trade for him.
But he was never able to lead his team to a respectable playoff performance. The Knicks, who themselves have not seen the Playoffs for 7 straight seasons, are in desperation mode. But is Westbrook the answer to their prayers? We will find out in the coming weeks.

Looking back at the 2019-20 season, Westbrook averaged a stunning 27.2 points per game in the regular season. Unfortunately, due to a quad injury, Westbrook was not the same player in the Playoffs,
As a result, he struggled to take a back seat to Harden in the Playoffs. Which begs the question: Is Westbrook still capable of leading a team by himself? Well, in a nutshell, he still has the talent to lead a team to a playoff berth.

So if the Knicks are indeed ready to absorb Westbrook’s contract, they should pair him with a secondary star. A player who is ready to play second fiddle to Russ.
