Not everything has been positive about ESPN’s documentary on Michael Jordan- The Last Dance. Jordan’s teammate at Chicago Bulls, Craig Hodges wasn’t happy with a few of the comments from Jordan in the documentary.

Hodges wasn’t happy that Jordan called the Bulls team as ‘cocaine circus’. The Bulls drafted Jordan in 1984- a time when the franchise was a ‘cocaine circus’ according to the NBA legend. Hodges, who came into the Bulls side in 1988, wasn’t happy about those remarks on the team.

“One of the things as players we call this a fraternity. So I’m watching the first episode and I was upset about the ‘cocaine circus.’ That bothered me because I was thinking about the brothers who are on that picture with you who have to explain to their families who are getting ready to watch this great Michael Jordan documentary event and they know you’re on the team, and now you’ve got to explain that to a 12-year-old boy,” Hodges said on Fox Sports Radio.

Michael Jordan calling Scottie Pippen selfish did not impress Hodges

Hodges started his NBA career in 1982 with the San Diego Clippers. He played for Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns before joining the Bulls. He expressed more discontent on the documentary referring to Jordan calling Scottie Pippen “selfish”.

The very first episode of The Last Dance revolved around Pippen’s contract with the Bulls. The term selfish came out because of the timing of Pippen’s surgery in 1997 amidst a contract dispute. Hodges was also unhappy about Horace Grant leaking “The Jordan Rules.”

“Then the Scottie Pippen part. Scottie was ‘selfish’. C’mon man, c’mon,” Hodges said. “And then last night with Horace, that hurt me. I’m letting MJ know that that ain’t right, dude. Horace did not deserve to take the fall for ‘Jordan Rules’.

Hodges was a part of the Bulls team that won the Championships in 1991 and 1992. Since the documentary majorly revolved around the 1997/98 season of the Bulls incredible decade, it didn’t include a few of the players who had played for the Bulls in the early 1990s. However, Hodges wasn’t happy that he wasn’t a part of the documentary.

“I’m kind of salty how everybody got interviewed but me,” he said.
