Brooklyn Nets Star Kyrie Irving introduced an initiative to help WNBA players. The KAI Empowerment Initiative will help supplement income for those WNBA players who choose not to play this season, either due to the coronavirus pandemic or other social justice issues.
This initiative will come as a great delight to all WNBA players. Irving has himself committed $1.5m to the initiative. This will drastically lower the financial burden for the players and help them remain stress free.
This decision came after Irving spoke to a few WNBA stars like Jewell Loyd and Natasha Cloud. He discussed with them about the uncertainties they were facing while making their decision to sit out. The WNBA season started off this weekend and will be played at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Eligibility Criteria for the Kyrie Irving Initiative
Although this initiative has been launched for all WNBA players, there are certain parameters to which the players need to qualify to receive the funds.
The players must be able to explain the circumstances under which they are applying for the fund and whether they will be receiving an income from other sources or not. If the reason for not attending the season is related to the pandemic, then medical reasons and proof must be provided as well.
