Why Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls Would Never Have Been This Successful in the Current Era

Chris Broussard, a famous NBA analyst for Fox Sports, has given his views on how Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls would have fared if they were playing in the league now.

In the wake of Jordan’s new documentary ‘The Last Dance,’ Broussard appeared on the ‘First Things First’ program to weigh in on the first two episodes. He detailed his views surrounding the early demise of the great Bulls team. He also added how they might be struggling if they were a part of the league at the present.

“It didn’t have to end that early”,says Broussard

Chris Broussard laid emphasis on his words when he said that the Bulls’ dynasty ended too early. Keeping in mind that they had won six championships, he felt they could have advanced further in their conquest.

Broussard feels the team was broken prematurely. He wanted to see them take on Tim Duncan and David Robinson if they had stayed together for a year or more. He complimented the talent the Bulls team possessed when they were in their prime, while including their coach Phil Jackson in the mix as well.

“It just bothered me to know that Jerry Krause destroyed that team before it was time.” The 51-year-old deeply resented Krause’s decision to dismantle the team before the players were physically done. He questioned his judgment on putting the organization before the players as the latter won them the championships that sit in their front office.

Broussard explained how Michael Jordan would find it difficult to cope up in today’s NBA world

According to Broussard, Michael Jordan would have found it difficult to cope up with the current media trends in the NBA. In his glory days, the Jumpman was the pick of the bunch. He always had the spotlight on him.

However, Jordan preferred to stay away from it when he wanted to. He restricted his fame and could control it, owing to the small amount of Television shows and radio programs relating to the NBA at that period.

“It would’ve been more difficult for Jordan in today’s media climate.” He stressed upon MJ’s gambling problems as a matter that the media would blow up today. 

“He actually went to Atlantic City in the middle of a playoff series with the Knicks, to gamble,” Broussard exclaimed. Though it became huge news back then, the TV personality feels that today’s media would have ripped him apart.

The issues Michael Jordan faced with his teammates and the front office were not nearly covered back then. If the Bulls team had been in the league today, all their issues would be gobbled by the media. Every single detail about the team’s issues might have come out to the eyes of everyone. 

All these distractions would have caused the team to derail and deprive them of the championships they won. Jordan’s issue with Scottie Pippen would have ballooned up if it had happened in this day and age. 

However, all these ponderings limit us very much. We can’t really be sure what could’ve unfolded now. No one can really say how the legendary Bulls team would have played now. The double three-peat is a million-dollar question. MJ’s past achievements and if he could have replicated them now also remains a mystery.
