Looked like both Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark made it their personal mission to win over each other. But Angel Reese certainly was in a deep hole of trouble. The No. 10 on the Tigers roster did not bring out her offensive prowess to the floor today. Was it because Caitlin Clark was in red-hot form? The Bayou Barbie missed eight shots in a disappointing second half, bringing some dismay to the Tigers.

While she gave a powerful performance in the first half, her second half looked like a race for tortoises. She only bagged 4 points in the last 20 minutes of the game. In contrast, her arch nemesis Caitlin Clark grabbed 18 from beyond the arc and 4 from free throws, adding up to 22 in the second half.

To bring more black clouds on the LSU family, the referees fouled out Angel Reese with less than two minutes on the clock. While the team picked up their pace and tried to overcome the deficit, there seemed to be nothing that could break Clark’s winning streak.

LSU’s wish to bring a second trophy in the purple and gold was broken by Iowa as they lost 87-94. While not entirely on her, fans claimed that the reigning champions lost because their star forward did not pull her socks up.

Certainly, LSU as a team lost today. But being the star performer in the reigning champions’ roster, the junior forward had to take some jibes. An X user suggested that she was crashing out after halftime as she finished with 7-20 shooting from the field.

On the other hand, a basketball follower completely put the blame on the SEC Player of the Year (2024) for the team’s loss. While LSU had a poor 3rd quarter, which proved to be pivotal in the end, they did manage to spark some sort of a comeback in the 4th. However, Reese wasn’t much involved in that.

After Reese’s mocking ‘You can’t see me’ gesture towards Clark during last year’s Championship game, fans were expecting more of the same this time around. However, that didn’t come to fruition as Clark obliterated her opponents as Reese continued to struggle in the 2nd Half. A fan’s now-deleted tweet read, “Don’t see Angel Reese taunting sh*t tonight.”

A fan went as far as saying that Reese is not as good as others have created her image and unlike Clark, has no bag.

While Angel Reese could not bring LSU a win against Caitlin Clark once again, she has one more year of eligibility that she can use to bring glory back to the Tigers’ locker room. Nevertheless, the harsh comments on the player’s loss seemed a little too much.
