Bob Knight joined Texas Tech in 2001. He signed a five-year deal worth $4.5 million. Following this, his salary was divided into three parts. His base salary was $250,000 per annum along with a deferred income of $150,000. Furthermore, he also earned $500,000 as a part of his guaranteed outside income. Bobby also has a 5,000-square-foot home in Bloomington, Indiana which he purchased with his wife in 2019. Supposedly, the property is worth $572,000. In addition, he also owns a house in Lubbock, Texas.

Allegedly, he made a significant contribution of $10,000 to its library during his time at Texas Tech. The University later named the fund Coach Knight Library Fund to honor him.
