One of the most mighty and controversial figures of basketball — Bob Knight — is no more. The three-time NCAA champion has treated the fans of basketball with countless memories. Further, he had an illustrious career that extended across several decades. Apart from being a decorated coach, he was also among the richest ones in basketball.

Bob Knight is a legend in the NCAA division. He accomplished wonders with the Indiana Hoosiers for three decades. In addition to this, the General was also one of the richest coaches of his time. Apparently, Bob had an estimated net worth of $15 million. The University of Indiana released an official report in 2000 about his estimated income. According to his contract, Bobby earned $163,118 with the school. Moreover, his contract also included a new car each year. Additionally, the University also assigned a private jet for official Indiana businesses to Bob.

Bob Knight joined Texas Tech in 2001. He signed a five-year deal worth $4.5 million. Following this, his salary was divided into three parts. His base salary was $250,000 per annum along with a deferred income of $150,000. Furthermore, he also earned $500,000 as a part of his guaranteed outside income. Bobby also has a 5,000-square-foot home in Bloomington, Indiana which he purchased with his wife in 2019. Supposedly, the property is worth $572,000. In addition, he also owns a house in Lubbock, Texas.

That’s not all, Bobby also had a reputation for being a very generous donor.

Bob Knight’s philanthropy

On multiple occasions, Bob Knight’s charitable character also made headlines. He helped generate $5 million for the Indiana University library system. Allegedly, he made a significant contribution of $10,000 to its library during his time at Texas Tech. The University later named the fund Coach Knight Library Fund to honor him. The amount then exponentially increased to a whopping $300,000. In addition to many more such donations, he is also well known for one to a home at 1519 S. Andrew Circle. Knight granted a massive amount of $600,000 here back in 2019.
