Well, by now college football fans have an image of the Colorado Buffaloes HC Deion Sanders. That man never inch before telling the truth. No matter how harsh it is and no matter who is he speaking to, not even his sons. Now that the transfer portal is thickening, we can expect Deion to be more vocal about what he feels. After all, we all know how the 2024 transfer portal has been no less than a drama for Coach Prime and the Buffs. All thanks to the ex-Buffs defensive back, Cormani McClain and other transfers. Deion now knows how nasty the transfer portal can get. Just that he does not have to go through that disturbing episode anymore, he has raised a warning for the players.
Maybe it will take Deion some time to get over the 2024 transfer portal trauma. After all, the Buffs HC got involved in some dirty mud-slinging. He and Colorado had been attacked by McClain who stated that his wish to “Be a part of a real and a great program that’s going to impact me at my best ability and yeah ready to get to a new place and get to work.” It was evident from McClain’s mother’s claim that his son did not feel appreciated in Boulder. And we later got to know, how leaving Deion’s shadow he had a hard time getting picked. Even after landing in Billy Napier’s Florida Gators, he had a rough time. Now if that’s not enough to mold the players, Coach Prime took the help of stats. He posted an IG story with the caption, “Now y’all see the Light huh?”

The numbers to be taken into account are 2707 FBS players who have hit the portal in 2024. It makes up 25% of the total players. That’s concerning, right? What’s more concerning is the fact that 30% of the players who entered the portal in 2023 never made it out or got signed. So, now the players know that Deion wants nothing but the best for his players. After all, the man and the Colorado program carry some rich experience when it comes to the transfer portal.

Remember when the Buffs suspended Bishop Thomas and later he hit the transfer portal claiming of not willing to ‘play for clicks?’ However, Dylan Edwards’ departure came as a shock for Deion and Co. as the player stated, “I just did a lot of you know thinking and soul searching…just felt like it was my best decision to you know leave Colorado and do my own thing.” Edwards found his new home in Kansas State. But out of the Buffs transfers, there is one whose luck didn’t favor.
Can Deion Sanders’ warning keep the remaining Buffs in Boulder?
That’s none other than the former Buffaloes QB Gavin Kuld. The reason behind his departure was not Deion but his son Shedeur. Kuld claimed to have received an ‘outsider treatment’ from Shedeur. As the transfer stated, “Not a second. The second I came in, he told the coaching staff that I would never have a chance to be the backup quarterback and he could never coach me… I sat to try to talk to the four quarterbacks of spring…what you doing, what you reading, you should read this…he was completely mute to me.”
Out of rage, Kuld then passed a brutal shot at Shedeur claiming, “Look at Arizona, look at (Noah) Fifita, he did with all his money…look at Colorado this guy has got six cars and an apartment.” And we then know how they all got involved in a nasty blame game on social media. Sadly, Kuld got snubbed at the end as no program picked him. Now that’s enough of a warning for this season’s players.
Already list of Buffs players hitting the transfer portal is becoming long. That includes NBA star Nate Robinson’s son Nahmier Robinson, quarterback Walter Taylor, and defensive lineman Rayyan Buell. Now let’s see if any of them undergoes the same fate as Gavin Kuld. Also, will Deion Sanders’ social media post be enough to stop other Buffs from stepping their feet out of Boulder?
