There will never be a day when Alabama says, ‘Thanks, but we’re good without Nick Saban now.’ More than eight months have passed since the GOAT has a retired tag before his name, but he is the one on Kalen DeBoer and Co.’s speed dial. This was something that came forward during Kane Wommack’s first public appearance on becoming Alabama’s defensive coordinator.

And Wommack could not help but flaunt about how they still get to enjoy being under Saban’s shadow making the most use of the GOAT’s ever-present mojo. While Alabama counts on their ex-HC for every step they take, Saban was spotted entertaining his fans by biting on a tomahawk steak.

Alabama staffer’s surprising benefits from Nick Saban

On September 16, Wommack was in Mobile and spoke to the media before heading to the C Spire 1st & 10 Club meeting. It was in January, that he left his South Alabama job and followed long-time pal Kalen DeBoer to the Crimson Tide. While he thought that this transition would land him in a soup, his time in Tuscaloosa surprised Wommack with the best of surprises. After all, he has access to one of the greatest defensive minds in college football. “Coach Saban has been a tremendous resource to me,” claimed the DC.

While Wommack had been skeptical about whether Saban would give him permission to contact him, the GOAT has been always the go-to-guru. The Alabama staffer informed during the press interview, “We met again as early this morning, spent time together. He’s been really great and just a huge support system for me and the rest of the defense.” Nick Saban is called GOAT for a reason. Even though he has so many things on his plate, he never allows the calls to go in the voicemail.

Nick Saban joins Pat McAfee in a steak-fueled fun

College GameDay never gifts fans any dull moment. This time expectations were high since it was Saban who had found himself a place among the commentators. However, the ex-HC is often known for his calm and demure side. And on September 14 e came up with a sweet surprise. The energy had already been hitting the roof with analyst Pat McAfee present on the commentary box.

Well, McAfee’s energy is so contagious that even Saban fell prey to it. The crew was enjoying some of South Carolina’s finest food. It was time for McAfee to devour a scrumptious meal of tomahawk steak. It was right after that history has been made. The analyst made eye contact with Saban holding the steak, making a “Wanna have some” gesture.
