Bad news for Colorado Buffaloes fans. If you had thought that as the season ending draws closer, things will be in your favor, it’s time for you to get a reality check. It’s obvious, you must be looking forward to your dual-threat Travis Hunter landing it big in the Heisman race. But chances look thin! All thanks to Boise State Broncos RB and Hunter’s Heisman contender, Ashton Jeanty as he comes off as an invincible force. That’s enough to displace the Heisman crown from Hunter’s head. However, Big 12 in no way is going to allow the Buffs’ two-way star to take a backseat and allegedly target Jeanty.

Look how fast the night changed for Hunter. Until Friday, Deion Sanders’ two-way star had been a heavyweight contender to bag the much-awaited bronze trophy. But not anymore! Things took left for Hunter as soon as Jeanty unleashed his dominance on the gridiron during the Mountain West Championship Game on Friday, December 6 evening. Jeanty made a big play with under a minute to play in the second quarter. So now you know how he is going to be the center of one of the most viral replays in recent times. He ran for a 75-yard touchdown to help the Broncos go up 21-0 on UNLV. This feat was enough to turn heads and how could Big 12 just sit quietly? They instead thought of firing a shot at the Boise State RB as The Athletic writer, Chris Vannini wrote, “Big 12 counter-programming Ashton Jeanty.”

So what did Big 12 do? Just when Jeanty started trending on social media during and after the Mountain West Championship, they cooked up a sly plan. To protect their fav Deion and his Buffs, they planned to shift the fans’ focus. That’s when they posted a video clip, basically a compact version of different highlight reels by Hunter from this season. The caption said it all, “Four minutes and 36 seconds of Travis Hunter highlights… for no particular reason at all.”

It had the dual-hreat’s electrifying feat against Baylor Bears where the player had been indomitable in his contribution to the O-line as he came up with seven receptions for 130 yards. But no matter how much Big 12 tries to portray ‘All is Well’ with Hunter, his teammate had to pitch in to make the Heisman calls louder.

Travis Hunter’s teammate steps up for his Heisman push

Friday night was all about ‘JEANTY! JEANTY!’ cheers throughout social media. After all, the 21-year-old became the all-time career rushing leader in Boise State history. That made up to some 44-years-long history. This feat is something that not only the Broncos fans, but the college football would remember for the longest time. After all, Jeanty finished with 209 yards on 32 carries, out of which 132 yards occurred in the first half itself.

For those who doubted Jeanty, that’s a heads-up to switch teams before it gets too late. Like the Boise State RB has already started to build a heavy fan base. That’s when a few fans started to fuel to already heated-up Hunter vs Jeanty debate, “If you think Travis Hunter should win the Heisman over Ashton Jeanty, you don’t know ball…” But no matter how many fans Hunter might lose, he will have his teammates by his side, FOREVER!

Just when Travis Hunter started to lose his ground in the Heisman race, he needed some morale boost. That’s when Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver LaJohntay Wester arrived at his service. Hunter’s teammate then hyped him up posting a special IG story for the two-way star with a heartfelt plea, “Stamped!! Just give him his Heisman.” Let the showdown begin!
