Things are a bit tough for the North Carolina Tar Heels program. After all, Bill Belichick is trying his hand for the first time in college football after steering the NFL ship for years. While he’s expected to be busy crafting a winning strategy for the Tar Heels, he’s actually preoccupied assigning duties to his sweetheart, Jordon Hudson, in his professional life. Naturally, the frustration meter went high for the North Carolina fans. That’s when some good news dropped for them. Thanks to NBA star Michael Jordan for sending a special gift to the Tar Heels’ way. Meanwhile, Belichick is already leading the headlines with his personal announcement.

Well, North Carolina is a blessed program. Just like football, the Tar Heels have a storied basketball history that spans generations. There have been memorable moments like one by Jordan, hitting the game-winning shot for UNC in the 1982 National Championship game. Now, since the program has given so much to the basketball star, Jordan has signed a partnership. It has been running since Larry Fedora was the Tar Heels football head coach. Now that Belichick is here, how could Jordan not come up with a sweet surprise?

As reported by the Tar Heelswire, on May 20, the program revealed the latest UNC-inspired colorway of the popular Air Jordan shoe, which pays homage to the program. What’s the USP of this latest edition that came in honor of Belichick’s carving a new chapter for the Tar Heels?

The Air Jordan 9 “UNC” PE is the latest colorway to be revealed for the upcoming season, and it’s pretty damn awesome. The color scheme would make one’s heart go weak. These shoes are dressed in the perfect mix of white, Carolina Blue, and navy, complete with cool details showing off the Tar Heels. It sports a UNC branding tag on the tongue, “23” on the heel, and the Jumpman logo boldly featured in Carolina Blue on both the bottom and lower midsole. Unfortunately, only Belichick and his team are lucky enough to get their hands on them, as they won’t be hitting retail shelves. Still, this move by Jordan once again gave a seal of approval to his strong bond with Belichick.

Bill Belichick checked in with the greatest Tar Heel ever before taking the UNC head coaching job. The new Tar Heels head coach actually had a chat with Jordan just days before he formally put pen to paper on his North Carolina deal. While we are not sure what exactly they talked about, Belichick sounded very content. “Very supportive,” he said of the talks with the famed alum. While the 73-year-old has his professional life in turbo mode, his personal life seems to be revving up just as fast. However, that’s already earned Belichick a ‘problem’ warning.

Belichick was there for an interview with Tony Dokoupil of CBS Mornings to promote his new book, ‘The Art of Winning.’ That’s when the 24-year-old kept interrupting throughout the interview. This might not have sat well with Rob Gronkowski. Having played under Belichick, he addressed the elephant in the room on the May 20th episode of the Bussin with the Boys podcast.

“That’s a little surprising to me cuz he [Belichick] was all about eliminating distractions and like it’s kind of; I mean we can’t really say if it’s a distraction yet or not, because well, no in the win-loss column this year,” Gronkowski said. But Belichick has turned a deaf ear to all the chaos.
