With every passing day, Florida Gators HC is sinking deeper into his woes. Things haven’t been easy for Billy Napier lately. The program seems ready to part ways with him, even if it means emptying their pockets. Well, the Gators are even willing to pay a hefty $27.7 million as a parting gift to move on from Napier. Because they too know that Napier’s destiny is “inevitable.”

While his program and top prospects fail to trust the HC, the NFL legend-turned-coach asks for some patience to hold their horses!  On November 28, 2021, the Gators chose Napier as their 28th HC, convincing enough to take Dan Mullen’s seat. The craze surrounding Napier was real. After all, at that point in time, he had been the hottest name after his 40-12 record in four seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette.

However, with time, the bubble they were living in soon popped. The latest blow came with adding another double-digit loss at home. The Gators lost to Texas A&M in an alarming 33-20 feat. It seems that the program had been waiting for the closure that they finally got as pointed out by analyst Greg McElroy, “Florida they’re going to fire Billy Napier it is a matter of time.”

There are no two ways about it, “Is it today? Is it tomorrow? Is it the next day? Is it next week? It’s inevitable. It’s moving in that direction.”  Taking the numerical figures into consideration, the HC’s agent Jimmy Sexton has negotiated a deal. They have finally met halfway as the Gators have now agreed to pay Napier 85% of its deal if he’s fired without cause. The number stands at $27,996,875.

Looks like Napier’s more of a drain on the Gators than the game-changer they thought they were getting.

Ex-Gators HC urges patience as Florida goes restless with Billy Napier

As hush-hush goes, top recruits are soon going to switch out of Florida. Some of the names that have come forward are WR Naeshaun Montgomery, DL Jalen Wiggins, and Edge Javion Hilson. While we are yet to find out the real cause, On3 Recruits analyst Steve Wiltfong came up with his prediction. “It’s not good right now for them because there’s just a lot of doubt of the direction of this program now moving forward,” is what the analyst believes is the prospective reason behind the switch. While trust runs low when it comes to Napier, NFL legend Steve Spurrier believes otherwise.

Spurrier had coached the Gators to a national championship and holds the Heisman winner tag in Florida’s history. On the Another Dooley Noted Podcast, the ex-coach advised that the program should not be in a rush to fire Napier. “I think we just need to show a little patience and see what can happen from this year,” Spurrier suggested. To him, replacing Billy Napier is not going to change the big picture in any way.

While the Gators are still in the dark about their next coaching move, they seem to be turning a deaf ear to Steve Spurrier’s advice on the matter. After all, Napier’s win percentage is the worst by a Florida HC since Raymond Wolf who was at the helm from 1946-49. With this, the Gators are all ready with scissors to cut the ties!
