Woah! One of the most notorious men of the NFL is back again. We are talking about the former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newtown. Well, we know how most of the time Newton is either fueling controversies or talking bad about people. But guess what? This time he chose neither of the two paths. Instead, he talked of something very serious and that is the need of the hour. Looks like college football stars skipping the bowl game did not sit well with Newton. Already Alabama Crimson Tide HC Kalen DeBoer has addressed the issue.

Over the past few years, college football has seen a pattern. The players who are top NFL Draft prospects and the ones with their eyes on the transfer portal, refuse to put in much effort. As a result, to keep themselves safe from injury, they often opt out of bowl games. Some of the biggest names to declare their exit in the 2024-2025 season are Michigan DT Mason Graham and Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson among others. And the list keeps getting longer with every passing day. That’s when Newton thought of addressing the real issue. On the 4th&1 With Cam Newton, the guest asked the former NFL quarterback a question, “Do you agree with that you agree with forfeiting the money?”

To which Newton confidently replied, “Hell yeah…If your dad don’t show up to work if your mama don’t show up to work do they still get paid? Go to games homie! Play the game homie! Be a real Pro.” No more excuses for being “amateur” is accepted for Newton. Against which he raised a strong defense, “It’s no more amateur sports bro when they agreed to say NIL is free able to do that sh- t bro. They’re professionals so hold them accountable to professionals.”

Yes, the legend got too upset with how things are now taking place in college football. Thus he thinks that opt-outs now need to be held accountable for their actions. “If they don’t want to play in the bow game cool that’s fine but that money that we gave you for the regular season and bowl games get some of that money back,” suggested the ex-Panthers. There is a reason behind it.

How does Kalen DeBoer and Co. have a rocky path ahead?

There have been multiple times in the past that Newton threw shade at the Alabama Crimson Tide. But not this time. Even though he did not admit it openly, the news of Bama HC Kalen DeBeor’s misery might have reached him. Initially, DeBoer looked all positive. He stated, “What I feel right now, and I’m not saying there won’t be one, but I feel like right now we’re in a place where most of those guys are planning on playing. I don’t care what round they’re planning on going in. And you know, we’ll see. But that’s my early understanding.”

That’s when gradually, the opt-out list for Crimson Tide started to thicken. Names like Jalen Milroe, Tyler Booker, and Jihaad Campbell, likely to be going pro are casting doubts. Looks like Alabama now lands in a tough spot before their Reliaquest Bowl, the much-awaited face-off between Michigan vs. Alabama on December 31.

No matter how chilled out Kalen DeBoer has been, former coach Jason Brown was hyped up just like Cam Newton. On the Coach JB Show with Big Smitty, JB claimed, “I pay you on a NIL deal or not. It’s a f–kin business decision that you play my games because I just f–kin paid you nil money to come to my school, then you owe me just like a professional.” Let’s see what decision the program finalizes for the opt-outs.
