Colorado came, Colorado saw, and Colorado conquered against the Iowa State Cyclones. Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes had hit the ‘flip’ button, holding on late to earn a 24-17 upset over No. 21 Iowa State. This marked Colorado’s first win in the Big 12 Conference this season. Not just this, the Saturday game happened to be Deion’s boys’ first win over a Power 4 opponent. So, it obviously called for some grand celebrations. However, the on-field celebrations turned out to be costly for Deion and co. as it went out of bounds.

On October 11, right after the game, analyst Nick Perkins tweeted, “I think you have to transfer schools if this happens.” The clip is enough to send chills down the spine. The Folsom Field witnessed the third sellout of the season. The attendance was 52,698. And the star of the show? Had to be Deion’s quarterback, Kaidon Salter. He threw two touchdown passes, and Colorado’s defense sealed the deal with a fourth-quarter interception and a key stop, propelling the Buffaloes past No. 22 Iowa State 24-17. But the clip captured some horrific things.
As soon as Deion and co. sealed the night with a victory, the fans rushed to the field, running here and there. And one of them got caught up amidst the chaos. As someone captured a fan stumbling and tripping on the gridiron. Till this, it was okay. But what transpired next shows how fans rushing to the field can lead to dangerous events. The Colorado student got stuck under a goal post and struggled for a few seconds to come out, but he failed.

That’s when others helped to remove the heavy goal post. But had they not been recording or paying attention, the Colorado victory could have witnessed a mishap, like a stampede. Already, things have been very sensitive in Deion’s squad at the moment.

Thanks to the Colorado fans for leaving their program in a sticky spot. On September 27, Deion’s boys brought home a 21-24 victory against the BYU Cougars. But the Buffs fans turned it into a nightmarish experience for Kalani Sitake’s program. Yes, BYU is used to the fan rage; hardly did they expect to be disrespected. In the final minutes, the student section let loose, roaring chants of “(Expletive) BYU” and “(Expletive) the Mormons.”
Things went so ugly that the Big 12 refused to let go of Deion’s program without holding them accountable for their action. They issued a $50,000 fine and public reprimand against the University of Colorado for the discriminatory chants. The Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark was upset with the behavior and released a statement, “Hateful and discriminatory language has no home in the Big 12 Conference. While we appreciate Colorado apologizing for the chants that occurred in the stands during Saturday’s game, the Big 12 maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.” Amidst the tense happenings, there were some heartfelt moments, too.
Deion Sanders gifts a moment to remember during the face-off against Iowa State
Fans were still filling up the stands for the Colorado vs Iowa State face-off. That’s when Deion noticed a pint-sized Colorado fan wearing a Buffaloes jersey. Coach Prime, the man who always wins hearts with his charismatic moves, walked down to the sidelines. He then removed his cap and made the little one wear it.
But the lil one is two conscious about her hairstyle, donning two ponytails. She then removed Deion’s gift. Her dad, already on cloud nine, took a moment to react. He then placed the cap back on his daughter’s head. And yet again, the lil one refused to wear it. Romi Bean captured the heartwarming video, and posted it on her profile with the caption, “Coach Prime gives his hat to a young girl… but she’s not interested in wearing it 😂 Dad keeps trying, but she ain’t having it 😭”

Maybe, 10 years down the line, the kid will repent for not giving Deion a hug in return for the gift she received. As the head coach and his team made the Buffs fans happy with both their off-field gestures and on-field action, it was finally Deion’s time to take part in the much-needed celebration.
“It means a lot, we won,” Coach Prime said in a post-game interview. “It’s different, it’s a different feel, a different mood. Ya lady wants to grab something to eat. Usually I don’t want to be seen after a loss, I might actually go do it. You don’t wanna go nowhere when you get your b- – t kicked… I’ll go and eat somewhere because we won,” Deion Sanders revealed about his post-victory plans. The news of the unruly fans hasn’t reached the head coach. When it does, a stern reprimand is inevitable.
