With each passing day, the crystal ball’s looking a little too accurate! Wondering what the hoopla is all about? Ever since their last season’s disastrous narrative, Colorado Buffaloes HC Deion Sanders had been in the hot seat. While the 2024 season was the only ray of hope for Coach Prime to extend his role in Boulder, hopes are running on fumes at this point.

Going by the points highlighted on the CBS Sports podcast, it looks like Deion’s all-time critic, Paul Finebaum has been on point with his guess. Amidst the chaos, dropped another bomb for Deion. All thanks to their rivals, the Colorado State Rams.

A look into Deion Sanders’ short-term strategy

While the beginning of the 2024 season restored some kind of faith in Deion’s ability to change things for the better, it did not take them much time to get their hearts broken. Last season, the Buffs got the lowest rank in the Big 12 with an average of 1.67 yards carry. Besides, their QB Shedeur emerged as the most sacked player in the history of college football with 56 sacks! Deion might have promised big things to the Buffs’ fans this season, but in the podcast, the guest, Josh Pate hit the crux of the matter. He started with, “Look at these context clues.”

Firstly, Coach Prime never went door to door visiting high schools and had been robbed of major talents. Secondly and the most crucial point being the Buffs HC focuses only on the present and not the future.

That’s the best answer to what his plans are as Pate further highlighted, “Deion has explained his approach, but every time it coinicides with what it takes to win now, that’s what they do, they talk this way when they don’t plan to be around for long time.” This takes us back to Finebaum’s commentary about the Buffs HC.

Paul Finebaum’s forecast for Deion Sanders beyond the 28-10 loss

Even before this season even started, Finebaum had given a side-eye to Shedeur’s towering expectations about their Super Bowl run. Instead, the ESPN analyst tagged it as “irrelevant.” After Deion’s army faced the disastrous 28-10 loss against Matt Rhule’s Nebraska Cornhuskers with Shedeur again emerging as the sack hero with 5 sacks, it was turned for Finebaum to sprinkle some more salt on Colorado’s fresh wounds. The analyst made a bold claim about what Deion’s next move will be.

On the Matt Barrie Show, the critic claimed, “This season, when they fail to go to a bowl game, he’s going to look around and try to find an exit strategy.” But why does he feel so? According to him, Deion will have no one to look forward to coach, “No more Travis, no more Shedeur. What’s the motivation for him to beat himself up?”

While Deion Sanders is yet to recover from the Nebraska loss and brutal criticism ft. Paul Finebaum, Colorado’s in-state rival, is all set to squash the Buffs. Last season the Buffs won 43-35 in double-overtime. But ahead of this season, the Rams WR Tory Horton dropped a warning: “We owe them one. That’s been sitting on everybody’s minds since we came back from break. We owe them.” Time to see if Deion outcoaches Finebaum and Pate’s countdown clock for his exit!
