Things are rarely as simple as they seem! There’s always more to the story than meets the eye. And right now the only story that made Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs trending is the news of Georgia WR Colbie Young’s arrest. While it’s very easy for fans to strip off the player, the insider dropped in to help CFB fans with another perspective hinting at chances of dismissal. While HC Kirby Smart seemed to have shaken off the dirt from his hands, Young’s attorney hints that the Bulldogs WR is coming off clean.

Young has had a massive impact on Smart’s roster. Standing tall at 6-foot-3 alone has been enough of a threat during his stint with the Miami Hurricanes. But fans still can’t get over how the pass catcher specialized in 50/50 passes. Coming off with two touchdowns this season, Young has been quite a name. Obviously, for positive reasons. But it took just one incident to lose his playing privileges now.

As of Tuesday, October 8 morning, the athlete got arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault on an unborn child and battery. And here analyst Mike Bell dropped in with a thought-provoking tweet, “If you are new to @DukesandBell929 we don’t rush to judgment, and hopefully case gets dismissed against Colbie Young.”

Going by the information gathered, Young’s ex-girlfriend went to his apartment to discuss their relationship when things got heated up and allegedly the WR grabbed her arm and physically pulled her out of his room. The officer spotted bruises on the right side of the woman’s chest and redness on her flank.

However, the analyst has yet to hit the conclusion button. Bell substantiated his decision with, “Generally there’s 3 sides to every story. His, hers and what actually happened. But the off-field optics still look bad unless you don’t give a crap about it.” Just then dropped in reports from Young’s attorney Kim Stephens

The confidence of Colbie Young’s legal team

While the CFB fans expected HC Smart to give a clean chit for his WR, he decided to sidestep this duty. Instead Smart only stated, “He’s not with us right now. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him.” But not to worry. Young’s attorney has got him covered.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Kirby Smart too lenient with his players, or is he just caught in a tough spot?

Have an interesting take?

The appointed official, in a statement to the Banner-Herald, stated that the WR was arrested “after he asked his ex-girlfriend to leave his apartment.” He further tried to clarify by arranging the incidents one after the other, “He did not make physical contact with her in any way that could even be considered a crime.” Does that mean, like Bell, the attorney too is hopeful of Young’s case dismissal? “I expect Mr. Young to be fully exonerated once our investigation is complete and the truth is revealed,” Stephen seemed to be all confident.

Meanwhile, Kirby Smart finds himself in a sticky spot. The Georgia Bulldogs HC just reeled in a 10-year contract of $130 million. But in 2024 itself, he has lost his weapons to legal woes. Now Colbie Young becomes the seventh Georgia player to be arrested this year. And what is Smart’s role here? Instead of taking stern action, the HC tried to safeguard them saying, “When you have 130 17 to 23 year-olds, you’re going to have issues.” Well, it’s high time that he buckles up.
