Steve Sarkisian’s Texas has stepped up to support one of its own amid swirling controversies surrounding his pro football career. The Baltimore Ravens suspended the seven-time Pro Bowl kicker, putting him right back where he started. But what happened? The NFL handed 35-year-old Justin Tucker a 10-week ban after an investigation revealed he violated its personal conduct policy. The allegations lean towards sexual misconduct claims against Tucker.

However, Tucker is not just sitting idle during this period. Instead, he is drawing on his past lessons, which he learned during his time at Texas. “Seven-time Pro Bowl kicker Justin Tucker is working out at his alma mater, the University of Texas,” NFL broadcaster Tom Pelissero writes on X.
“Where he recently recreated his 18 game-winning field goals from 2012-24. Tucker, 35, is eligible to return from suspension Nov. 11 and already has interest from several teams.” Tucker seems to be seeking solace and support where it all began. His return to campus also symbolizes a second chance. During his time at Austin, Tucker wasn’t just your average kicker. He was a combo kicker and punter who handled kickoff duties in 52 games and field goals in 25 contests for the Longhorns.

He nailed an impressive 89.1% of his field goal attempts at Texas, which still ranks tied for third best in the school’s history. Now combine that type of accuracy with leg power, pure magic! He boomed punts over 50 yards on 22 occasions. In 2011, Tucker clinched the iconic winning kick versus Texas A&M as time expired. In fact, he ended a rivalry that had been going on for over a century. And his accolades speak for themselves. The coaches named him to the second-team All-Big 12 and put him on the Lou Groza Award watch list, marking him as one of the nation’s top kickers.

Tucker sincerely denied all the allegations against him. He called the reports “unequivocally false.” He said, “I have never before been accused of misconduct of any kind, and I have never been accused of acting inappropriately in front of a massage therapist or during a massage therapy session or during other bodywork.” In spite of all this, the Ravens cut all ties with him back in May as the investigation heated up. That in turn disrupted his $22 million contract, which still had three years left.

It’s not all over for Justin Tucker
Justin Tucker’s story doesn’t really end with a black mark and swooping back into the Austin hole. Why? It’s because he is already plotting a comeback as his 10-game NFL suspension nears its end on November 11, 2025. Tucker’s interest from these teams underscores just how rare and valuable his kicking talent is, even amid off-field issues. Sure, the last season was a bit rocky, but that doesn’t really give any NFL team a reason to boycott him.
His clutch moment heroics remind everyone why teams are still interested. So while some franchises weigh the PR risk tied to his suspension and allegations, others see the football value. And as the NFL season hits Week 11, the league is having rushed conversations because a dependable kicker can decide playoff dreams.
