It’s college football, folks. Nothing is predictable! Well, at least not the rankings. The CFB world waited with bated breath for the September 28 Alabama vs Georgia. And the Crimson Tide’s massive 41-34 win against the Dawgs did have a huge impact on the rankings. But hardly did Kirby Smart or Kalen DeBoer have thought that their fate would take a U-turn after the match.

Poor DeBoer! Despite their historic win, Alabama only moved up one spot in the rankings, while Georgia managed to stay in the same place. But the Alabama HC hardly cares as the Tide retakes the throne in the latest SEC power rankings.

A tough blow for Kalen DeBoer

College football analyst Pate is known for his special edition of team rankings named after him, ‘JP Poll.’ This time, the rankings are based on how strong the teams would be if they played on a neutral field, and Pate released a new ranking list with five teams. And guess what? He left DeBoer heartbroken. The analyst dropped a banger when he claimed, “We have a got a new number one team but it’s not Alabama.” Tch, tch! The No.1 spot went to Ohio State Buckeyes.

While Kirby Smart thought of getting snubbed after losing so badly against Tide, as per the rankings, Georgia managed to be in the same spot. The Dawgs according to the analyst have been “favored by about one or one and a half points.” And what about DeBoer’s Alabama?  “They’d be on four-and-a-half point favorite on the neutral field,” commented Pate.

Hence, Georgia is at a slight advantage. This has always been the case as records say the Dawgs rattled off an impressive nine consecutive wins from 1923 to 1931 when their neutral site was in Columbus. However, DeBoer hardly cares about Josh Pate’s rankings, as he and the Tide have better things to celebrate.

Fortune favors Kalen DeBoer’s Tide

Time for the SEC rivals to buckle up as Tide is still a problem for everyone else. Finally, at the end of week 5, the SEC rankings are here. And nothing to go awe about. It appeared that Alabama is still Alabama. All thanks to DeBoer and co.’s luck favoring them. However, not everything can be sidestepped as sheer good fortune.

Instead, the Tide QB Jalen Miloe and the offense had made it possible to crush the Dawgs’ defense to mere specks of dust in the first quarter. Even though DeBoer’s army came off as undefeatable because of having the Bryant-Denny advantage, still racing out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and going into the half ahead 30-7, is no joke!

After their instant classic, they’ve rightfully earned their way back to the top. Last week, they didn’t play but before that, they were on the third spot. No.3 to No.1, Kalen DeBoer has come up with enough hints for the Tide rivals to better watch out!
