Another day brings another disappointment. Even after a huge win, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin found himself facing unexpected disappointment. With a 4-1 record before playing South Carolina, Ole Miss looked like the clear favorite, right? Well, not for everyone. Surprisingly, Nick Saban’s wife, Terry, chose to support South Carolina instead of Kiffin’s Rebels!

On October 5, Kiffin’s team dominated the Gamecocks with a 27-3 victory, making them look like serious playoff contenders again. But despite the impressive win, it wasn’t enough to win over Lady Saban. Does this mean that the ice still has not melted between Nick Saban and ‘narcissistic’ Kiffin?

Terry Saban’s bet falls short about Lane Kiffin

Just when the fans had given up on all their hopes of Kiffin after their poor showdown against Kentucky, it took them one game to repair their dented impression. But before the game, Saban’s wife, Terry Saban, pinned her stakes for South Carolina, which Saban too sweetly acknowledged. The Sidelines-Bama account spilled some inside scoops as they tweeted, “Nick Saban said Miss Terry picked South Carolina +9.5, his Superdog pick for today. I opened my betting app immediately.” This was later re-tweeted by Kiffin with a “💔” emoji.

After all, Kiffins’ crew proved the GOAT and his wife wrong. Right before the game, the ex-Alabama HC predicted that Ole Miss should be on high alert against South Carolina. But the Gamecocks entering 3-1 has been enough of a hint. Being a man of experience, Saban thought that their defensive front and rushing attack on the offensive end would be enough to crush the Tide. Was the GOAT really into in-depth analysis or is he still salty with Kiffin holding on to old grudges?

Did Sabans’ prediction come from strategy or salty Lane Kiffin memories?

Kiffin did serve in Alabama between 2014 and 2016 working under Saban as the offensive coordinator. Right from the beginning, there seemed to be a cold war between the two. Courtesy of the lack of blending in their ideologies. While the GOAT struggled to adapt to the explosive passing offenses, Kiffin had entered Tuscaloosa with a gifted offensive mind. But things did not turn ugly between the two back then.

Instead, the strained relationship came forward upon the release of The Price: What It Takes to Win In College Football’s Era of Chaos by Armen Keteyian and John Talty. In the chapter dedicated to their mutual super-agent, Jimmy Sexton the chaos between Saban and Kiffin got exposed. Going by the behind-the-scenes insights, the agent pushed the GOAT to give the Rebels HC a chance. And what was Saban’s reaction?

“That son of a b- – – – -,” Saban said to his agent, according to the book. “I’m going to fire you, Jimmy, for ever talking me into hiring that narcissistic prick,” raged the ex-Alabama HC. Looks like Mr. and Mrs. Saban are keeping the cold war alive.
