When Jim Harbaugh had swapped wagons to the NFL, Michigan Wolverines already had a scenario in their head. They were pretty sure on how it won’t be easy for Sherrone Moore to fill in Harbaugh’s shoes. But hardly did they expect that Moore would have a hard time deciding on his QB. And you know what’s more alarming?

While the debut Michigan HC is yet to hit clarity on the QB problem, he has been spending a lot of time on the recruitment race. Thankfully, it did not hurt the Wolverines much as they ended up hijacking a 5-star recruit to make Moore feel a bit better. However, this recruitment win did not come easy as the recruit was almost on his way to landing in Troy Taylor’s squad.

A ray of hope for Sherrone Moore and Co. amidst struggles

With Harbaugh not around for the first time in nine years, Moore already had a lot on his plate. Seems like he has taken too much than he can digest. Moving into week 8, the Wolverines are at 4-3. With this, the fans desperately needed some positive news. Thank god, at least in this case Moore did not falter. On Monday, October 21, 247 Sports confirmed that the 5-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola will suit up in Ann Arbor next fall.

And what makes Michigan already throw a party in Babalola’s honor? The 6-foot-6, 270-pound blocker from Overland Park comes in as the best player in Kansas, ESPN’s No.7 OT, and the No.51 overall prospect in the cycle. So now you can guess how it’s absolutely a WIN-WIN situation for Moore and the Michigan boys as Babalola joins 4-star Avery Gach as the only offensive tackle coming out of the 2025 class. And how does it lessen the woes of the maize and blue tribe?

Sherrone Moore’s big win convincing the 5-Star Commit

When a program is unsure about its QB situation, it’s destined to hit the bottom. Such is the case for Moore who remains indecisive as his struggle to find a reliable QB just got real shifting from former walk-on Davis Warren to Alex Orji. Orji was later replaced after he lagged against Minnesota and came up with only 133 total passing yards in three games. He was soon replaced by Jack Tuttle but even then Moore could not let out a sigh of relief as he came up with only mediocre stats- 208 passing yards has been his highest this season.

Now that they are in such a tough spot, Babalola might come off as an anchor on the edge. So, Moore thus had put his blood, sweat, and tears to earn the 5-star commit’s trust. Luckily, it did not go in vain. Seemed like the ‘Mission Babalola’ had not been that easy since already Oklahoma, Missouri, Stanford, and Auburn were lined up to woo the player.

So what made Sherrone Moore’s pitch to seal the deal? “They are Michigan men through and through. They’ve obviously had a tough season and there’s been a lot of criticism, but I believe in them and I believe in their plan and vision for Michigan. I wouldn’t have committed if I didn’t believe in them and they didn’t believe in me,” clarified Babalola. Will the Wolverines finally find solace and clear the QB clutter? Do share your thoughts!
