It’s time for LSU Tigers HC Brian Kelly to face the music. Maybe he got too ambitious about their face-off against Alabama that they took the Crimson Tide too lightly. And what was the end result? Kalen DeBoer’s squad stripped off the Tigers 42-13 on November 9 at the Death Valley. The loss has been so alarming that they even stooped low in the eyes of their Hall of Famer alumni. Instead of standing beside Kelly’s program, he landed praise for Alabama QB Jalen Milroe. Meanwhile, the Tigers HC did take the blame on himself for putting his program in such a sticky spot.

The LSU HC did come up with big talks inviting recruits for the big day. But poor Kelly! November 9 was all about big oopsies. The situation for the Tigers has been so tough that even though they pulled out a last-minute touchdown with 11 seconds on the clock, the Crimson Tide already bolstered their ground and came up with a 42-13 win. Surprisingly, even after the loss, Kelly came up with expert commentary as Sports Director Jacques Doucet tweeted, “If I was at the opposition I would have run the quarterback.” He then passed the microphone over to the 2016 Hall of Fame inductee and LSU alumni Kevin Faulk. And the legend definitely looked upset with how the Tigers performed.

He pointed out how DeBoer was right with his strategy by making the most use of their QB, Milroe, “If you was at the opposing team then what would you do? Run the quarterback as many times…Jalen Milroe he is a pure athlete.” Well, Faulk is right. After all, Milroe emerged to be the savior of Alabama’s season.

Crimson Tide’s season looked ripe for burial after they had two surprising losses against Vanderbilt and Tennessee. Entering into a do-or-die kind of situation, Milroe did not give in to the pressure that Brian Kelly tried to create before the game. Instead, he came up with a career-high 185 yards rushing with four scoring runs. This made Faulk all confident about the growing Milroe-Alabama legacy: “With those stats he would be in the house every year.” Meanwhile, HC Kelly puts himself in the hot seat.

Brian Kelly’s mood shifts after Alabama’s defeat

‘How fast the night changes’ is something that best represents Kelly’s situation now. A day ago, he was spotted in a peppy mood dropping teases for the visiting recruits. And look at him now. One loss against Alabama was enough for the Tigers to drop to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in SEC play. With this, their motivation has vanished like a poof!

When Brian Kelly was asked about how he is going to get through the last three weeks with a long-shot chance at a CFB berth, the HC appeared drained. “We’re disappointed in the way we performed. These guys are not like, ‘Hey, we’re out of the playoffs.’ They’re disappointed. And I’m disappointed that we didn’t live up to the standards of LSU football.”

This time the LSU Tigers had the advantage of an open date but still couldn’t take advantage of the time they got in hand. Now let’s see how Brian Kelly keeps the Tigers boat afloat, living up to the standards of the three-letter word “L-S-U.”
