Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes walked to the Louisville Cardinals game with a clean sheet, 5-0. Mario Cristobal’s No.2 program looked to continue its streak in Week 8 with its ACC home opener under the lights on Friday night, October 17. But looks like Beck and co. witnessed their first speed break of the season. The Hurricanes quarterback had turned into an interception magnet. The Cardinals’ luck did not favor them much at the beginning. Finally, in the fourth quarter, things turned in Louisville’s favor as Beck landed in a sticky spot.

On October 17, while the game was still on, analyst Trey Wallace dropped a clip. With seven minutes fifty-five seconds left in the fourth quarter, Beck got intercepted. The caption read, ““There’s no flag this time” The simplest, but best call, of that Carson Beck interception. Louisville has picked him off 3 times tonight.”

He quoted the commentator to share his take on the gameplay. “…biggest play of the season for Miami. Beck, throwing downfield, intercepted! Hits off at the 25-yard line! It was JoJo Evans who got that one, and there’s no flag this time!” came the passionate commentary from the box. “There’s no flag this time,” is the part that called for attention.

The Cardinals intercepted Beck’s pass before the fourth quarter as well, but it got nullified due to an infraction, a pass interference, or holding. But this time, the interception stood clean. The commentator went on, “Third pick by Carson Beck, Louisville has the ball up 11. Well, this interception is created by Rene Konga. Watch the big man lurk inside. He’s going to get the pressure. It’s going to force the air and throw from Carson Beck. And a massive, massive interception for this card’s defense.”

In the first half, Beck tried to go down the field to Malachi Tony. But poor Beck! The throw got intercepted by Louisville linebacker Antonio Watts. Miami’s defense made a statement when Keionte Scott sniffed out a blown block and dropped Miller Moss for an 11-yard loss, marking the Hurricanes’ first big play of the night. Louisville’s quick punt two plays later handed Beck a chance to strike back, with Miami trailing 14-7 and 9:01 remaining in the first half.

Beck threw his second interception in as many drives as a pass intended for Keelan Marion fell short and landed in the hands of Jabari Mack. The Cardinals dodged a bullet on third-and-3 when replay reversed what had appeared to be a costly interception, ruling Moss’ throw to Nate Kurisky incomplete instead. Then came Beck’s third interception of the night. He tried to go deep on third-and-8, but Louisville’s JoJo Evans Jr. snatched the pass with no one near him, indeed a costly turnover for Miami. Who would have thought that it was not the end?

With just 32 seconds left, Beck’s pass to the flat was tipped at the line of scrimmage and picked off by TJ Capers. Meanwhile, some fans were right with their predictions of how Beck would make Miami regret their decision harder.

Fans’ predictions for Carson Beck came shockingly true

In the five games he played for Miami, Beck completed 102 of 139 passes for 1,213 yards for 11 touchdowns and only three interceptions. A fan had predicted mid-way through the quarterback’s interception number would shoot to 4. “Carson Beck will throw a 4th interception,” predicted the fan. So his new trick flex did not really work. Beck boasted about learning a new trick in the Hurricanes camp, “hang on to a couple of things a little longer.”

Fans must be reliving the ghosts of the past. As one of them commented, “Oh my god. A nightmare night from Carson Beck ends in his 4th interception. I’m not even sure what that play was supposed to be. Playing for FG? I don’t even know what to say. Just a brutal loss for Miami. Lots of season left, but that one hurts.” November 2, 2024, was also a nightmarish night when, against Florida, the then-Georgia quarterback threw three interceptions.

Before Friday night, Miami had won 10 straight home games. The Hurricanes’ last loss was against Louisville in 2023. A fan believes that had the game pushed through overtime, Beck would have added another bad play, “Carson beck 4th interception of the day ( should be 5 ) lmaoo.” So, Beck did leave his interception flaw back in Athens, where he had thrown 12 interceptions last season.

Another fan still hoped for their quarterback to turn the tables even after the third interception. After all, Beck is the one who is running the Heisman race. “Carson Beck STINKS! Even after you throw THREE interceptions, you still have a chance to not only tie but to win the game! & you throw another interception 😂 #MiamiHurricanes,” commented the fan. So, this might make way for the 7,293 yards Georgia Tech’s underrated quarterback, Haynes King, as picked by Josh Pate, to cash in on the opportunity.

Halfway through the fourth, Louisville looked poised for the win after Beck threw his third interception, leaving the Cardinals ahead 24-13. A fan thus raised a wake-up call: “Carson Beck 4 picks plus the game ending interception, time to learn CFL.” Following his devastating feat, Carson Beck’s Heisman odds took a dip from +350 to +2500. Will the rest of the season be enough to recover from the fall?
