“You always have to have your ears to the ground in the transfer portal, because it’s just part of it,” that’s what Sherrone Moore said about the transfer portal. So, the Michigan Wolverines head coach held a positive attitude towards making the most of the transfer portal. Even though Moore lost players to the portal, when it came to spreading waves in the recruiting trail, the head coach is always ready. And his efforts are falling into place. At least, it has wooed one of their elite targets who is now ready to give Michigan a shot. As Moore’s ‘Bolstering The Roster’ mission proceeds at a good speed, he already knows that at the beginning of the 2025 season, he will have to spend a considerable time away from the gridiron. But that’s not all.
Given Michigan’s storied history with the most recent Natty win in 2024, Moore has got to live ahead of time. Amidst the transfer portal chaos and building up his 2025 roster, the 2026 class did not go unnoticed. The head coach ensured to pursue the key weapons who will be leading Ann Arbor to another historical era. The one name that is doing rounds in their hot target list is the Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield cornerback Khary Adams. But what makes Moore so desperate to bring him home? The Top 100 cornerback is one of the highest-ranked prospects. And guess what? The feelings are mutual here.
“They have a really welcoming environment. It’s a place you want to be.”

As much as Moore and co. are obsessed with Adams, the young chap, too, holds a special place for the Wolverines in his heart. He made his first-ever visit to Ann Arbor and has been totally wooed. On May 8, analyst EJ Holland dropped some scoop on how Adams’ trip went. “I liked the visit a lot. They had good vibes. It felt like family. They have good coaches. They took care of me and my family. They have a really welcoming environment. It’s a place you want to be. We got to see the spring game and toured the facilities. It was great.” One can never go wrong making the recruits feel like top priority. And Moore channelled that very well. After all, when it comes to their cornerback position, the desperation looks real.
That’s because the 2024 season was one of growing pains for cornerback Jyaire Hill, who will look to turn a corner this fall in the Michigan secondary. Last season, Moore’s cornerbacks had a hard time against high-level competition, succumbing to breakdowns in coverage in games against Texas, Washington, and Ohio State. Talking about secondary, the Wolverines have impressed Adams. He shared:
“The defensive scheme is great. They run a lot of man, but they also do a lot of Cover 2. It was hard to see everything because they broke up the teams, but I think I can be a press man corner — boundary or field — in that scheme.” And with this, the 2026 recruit has already developed a strong bond with Michigan secondary coach and lead recruiter LaMar Morgan. So, the No. 6 cornerback and No. 55 overall prospect is already trying to come back for another visit.
“I’m trying to set up my official visit. The spring game visit was more than I was expecting. It was really nice. I want to get back out there for sure and just see more of everything.” While this indeed is good news, Moore’s seat is heating up.

NCAA to hit Sherrone Moore harder after the ban
The sign-stealing fiasco featuring Connor Stalions did mark one of the darkest chapters in Michigan’s history. The former head coach had flown off to the NFL. Did that end the Wolverines’ blows? Absolutely not. That’s because their current head coach is also involved in the controversy. Moore has been accused of deleting 52 text messages with Stalions around the time of the initial investigation. Now, this is against the NCAA rules. To bring down the heat, the program itself took matters into its own hands.
As ESPN reported, Michigan has suspended Moore for two games this upcoming season. The two specific games are the Week 3 face-off against Central Michigan and its Week 4 Big Ten opener against Nebraska. And if you think that’s final, Michigan insider Sam Webb has already blown the whistle. On the 247Sports podcast, he said, “It may not be two games,” in case the NCAA thinks that the ban is not enough punishment for Moore. Turns out that Webb was right.

According to NevadaBuck, there’s real smoke about Sherrone Moore facing a show-cause penalty from the NCAA. And guess what? The repercussions are not something that Wolverines fans would want to happen to their head coach. As the insider shared, “If Sherrone Moore gets a show cause, I don’t know exactly what the rules but Coach Meyer is under the impression, a lot of people are under the impression, that if you have a show cause, you can’t coach in college.” We have seen that for Jim Harbaugh, too. The Natty-winning coach had to pack his bags and leave for the NFL. With this, hard knocks are lining up for Moore in Wolverine territory.
