For some roles, doing the bare minimum is never okay. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Sherrone Moore’s role is one such. After all, taking over a program with a storied history after Jim Harbaugh is NO JOKE, and Moore’s year-long journey in that seat has definitely seen its share of highs and lows. Yet he’s consistently brought his A-game. And he earned the biggest kudos for going to great lengths to land the No.1 quarterback, Bryce Underwood. The 2025 class looks kind of sorted. But so what? Moore knows this is not the time to sit back and relax.
The Wolverines’ head coach continues to head down the recruiting trail. Mission? To hunt down the second No.1 quarterback. Already, Moore is likely to get his ‘PRO’ tag as a recruiter given his latest success.

Wolverines eye 2027 star QB
Sherrone Moore ran his first race in Ann Arbor with Michigan as the defending champions. But forget bringing the title home again; they even missed the playoff train. Obviously, nothing could fill the void, but at least the head coach tried to soften the blow. He snatched Underwood from the LSU Tigers, dishing out a fat NIL check that the young chap could not turn down. “I feel like we’re in a really good place with the quarterbacks,” that’s how contented Moore feels. So much so that he can’t take any risk and is on his mission to place the building blocks for the 2027 class. That’s when Kavian Bryant enters the picture.
On May 22, TheWolverine.com tweeted, “Michigan OC Chip Lindsey just visited Kavian Bryant, the No. 1 ranked QB in the 2027 recruiting class. The Wolverines LEAD on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.” Moore is yet to jump on the trail. As of now, he has assigned the wooing task to his offensive coordinator, Chip Lindsey.

As per the reports, the Wolverines are in full head-on mode as Lindsey traveled to Palestine (Texas), Westwood, and spent some time with a Top 100 2027 quarterback. After all, why wouldn’t they? The craze for Bryant is already hitting the roof. On3 ranked him as the No. 1 quarterback and No. 42 overall prospect for the next cycle. And guess what? Moore is going to face resistance not only from his college competitors.
Even regional schools are pushing hard to keep Bryant from leaving home. But what does the young chap’s heart crave? To move out of his comfort zone.

Sherrone Moore gets back-to-back victories by hitting the recruiting road hard
In the era of tough offensive and defensive blueprints, head coaches often miss out on the basics. What good is a muscular game scheme if your team isn’t capable of executing it on the gridiron? So, first things first, roster management is something one should never compromise on. And Moore got to learn it the hard way when Harbaugh left, leaving the roster a mess in Ann Arbor. Guess what? Right now, the luck is in the Wolverines’ favor.
Do you know Sherrone Moore landed a 4-star tight end on May 20, who can be the next Colston Loveland for the Wolverines? That’s none other than the 6-4, 240-pound star, the Billings West standout, Matt Ludwig. Ludwig’s frame is only slightly smaller than Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski, who clocked in at 6-6, 265 pounds during his playing days. Wrapping up his season with 53 receptions for 822 yards, 15.5 yards per catch, and four touchdowns, the Wolverines can also explore him as he plays outside linebacker on defense and is a prominent part of the special teams return unit. Was it an easy chase? Definitely not. Moore had to beat Texas Tech, Georgia, and Notre Dame. Even after this, the head coach refused to hit the snooze button.

He stepped out again, and surprisingly, it did not disappoint. Just two days later, on May 22, they again got lucky, landing another tight end, three-star Mason Bonner. The young chap is more like a Marlin Klein-type of tight end. He comes off as a full package, having a high floor and a solid skill set. Natural pass catcher who easily wins jump and 50-50 balls. Plus, his basketball background gives him body control and spatial awareness. Sherrone Moore is stacking wins off the field, and a commitment from another elite QB would be the cherry on top.
