Imagine a future where the NFL landscape is utterly transformed. A future where one name echoes through stadiums, a name synonymous with Ws: Arch Manning. But what about the standouts of today? While Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward dominate current draft conversations, a national analyst has fast-forwarded the clock, offering a glimpse into a startlingly different reality.

Arch Manning, the latest scion of football royalty, emerges as the hero of this future, while Aaron Rodgers… well, Rodgers seems to be caught in a perpetual state of limbo. Eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft, Manning’s path is just beginning, his potential already sparking fervent speculation.

Greg McElroy’s bold prediction, “He’s the guy that is best positioned to challenge Patrick Mahomes at the next level,” now finds an echo in USA Today’s Art Stapleton. On March 15th, Stapleton tweeted a vision of 2031: “The year is 2031. Arch Manning has won his second Super Bowl with the Jets and the Giants and Steelers are still waiting for an answer from Aaron Rodgers.”

Rodgers, once a titan of the game, finds himself adrift. His 2023 Achilles injury, followed by a dismal 2024 season with a 5-12 record and a 31st-place QBR ranking, led to his departure from the Jets. The 41-year-old quarterback, despite his veteran status, failed to secure the trust of the New York team, shattering their Super Bowl aspirations. Now, Rodgers is navigating the unpredictable waters of free agency. Rumors swirl that he’s eyeing the Minnesota Vikings, while the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers hold their breath, hoping for a response. But whispers suggest retirement might be his ultimate choice.

Stapleton’s vision paints a picture of a long wait for Rodgers, while Manning’s NFL journey accelerates. Manning, however, has his own role model, a quarterback whose style and determination he admires. “I think I’m kind of pulling for Josh Allen this year,” he admitted, revealing his preference for the Buffalo Bills’ dynamic quarterback. Allen, a 2018 draft pick and three-time Pro Bowler, boasts impressive stats: 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions in the last season, showcasing his dual-threat ability and leadership. Manning, in contrast, recorded 939 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions in 2024, a promising start to his college career.

Looks like the future of these two quarterbacks, veteran and rookie, is a story yet to be written. However, the rookie’s is being written faster and better.

How Arch Manning already has the NFL light on him

Despite never having played a full season, some analysts already rank Manning as the No. 5 quarterback in the SEC. This season, Eli and Peyton Manning’s nephew is running the Heisman race. And in case he bags the trophy, he will become the first Longhorn to win the Heisman since 1998, when running back Ricky Williams did it. Yes, the road ahead is not going to be a bed of roses.

Manning already got snubbed from On3 Sports’ Way-Too-Early 2025 All-American First Team. The Longhorns enter 2025 as legitimate title contenders. However, he will have to face a murderer’s row against Ohio State, Florida, and Georgia. While we are yet to figure out how the QB is going to handle the heat without messing up, it appears that NFL teams are already planning in advance to pursue him in Round 1 next season.

As per Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr, the Cleveland Browns are reportedly willing to make a big sacrifice during this year’s draft. Even though they are in desperate need of a quarterback, they might skip drafting a QB this year in order to land Arch Manning next year. Now is it too risky to pin your hopes for the future? Definitely. While the Texas QB is likely to become the No.1 overall pick, what if he struggles in Year 1 and decides he needs one more season? What if he suffers an injury? And hereby, many other questions follow.
