On November 18, Brian Murphy tweeted, “Maybe I was the only one curious, but no changes to UNC football coach Bill Belichick’s contract re: his no NFL jobs statement. (Often those “I’m staying” announcements bring some new deal.)” Just like the head coaching carousel in college, it has spread in the NFL, too. That’s what made Belichick’s name catch the buzz. 

The Tar Heels head coach’s name surfaced in connection with the New York Giants job after Brian Daboll’s firing. But even then, Belichick seemed to be loyal to his one-year-old home. What did he say?
