Nebraska Cornhuskers, holding a 3-0 record, went against Michigan, only to get crushed by a 27-30 loss by the Wolverines. But Taylor Lewan, the Michigan alum, along with the Nebraska alum, Will Compton, had made a wild bet. Not just this, the hosts of the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast made a promise as well. While Lewan had no problem keeping his words since his alma mater sealed a win, Compton gladly obliged, too.

On October 23, Champions Circle tweeted, “We’re thrilled to welcome our newest donor: @_willcompton! After another loss in the Bussin’ Bowl, the Nebraska Football Alum has stepped up big time with a major contribution to Michigan NIL.” It was followed by a picture of Compton in the No.85 Michigan jersey, and a note of gratitude. It read, “Thank you Will Compton for your generous contribution to Champions Circle and Michigan NIL.” The merchandise is also ready. The caps had some interesting taglines like “Michigan’s The Boys,” and “Bussin’ Bowl” with Michigan and Nebraska helmets, followed by the face-off date printed on it. The t-shirts also come with some cool prints.

On the Get Up podcast, on September 17, Lewan shared, “I left the floor wide open for Will Compton when it came to putting up this bet. What we’ve landed on is this: The loser has to shave their entire head and their face, that includes my mustache. No eyebrows… The loser has to concede to the 1997 National Championship. And the last thing is, Bussin’ With The Boys will donate $50,000 to the NIL collective of the winner.” A month later, Compton and Lewan kept their promise for Bryce Underwood and his mates. Talking about Michigan’s NIL?
That’s probably one of their biggest flexes. Michigan’s Champions Circle NIL collective offered Underwood between $10 million-$12 million over four years. As they underwrote the richest recruiting flip in college football history, it would not have been possible without the big trio.

Oracle’s billionaire co-founder Larry Ellison, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, and Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy came together to make the Wolverines’ Underwood dream come true. Even though Michigan’s ‘woo Bryce Underwood’ mission is accomplished, they found a new member, Compton, whose contribution would come in use in the near future.
While the Nebraska alum’s name is now heard frequently in the Wolverines camp, he did not forget to keep track of his alma mater. Now that the Cornhuskers’ head coach, Matt Rhule’s future in Lincoln has caught some buzz, Compton shared his take.

Will Compton’s green signal for Matt Rhule’s long-term future in Lincoln
Penn State Nittany Lions fired their head coach, James Franklin, but Nebraska fans started to lose their sleep. The reason? Rhule’s name started to do the rounds as the Nebraska head coach seemed to be on Penn State’s wishlist. Rhule further stirred the pot by sharing, “I love Penn State. Met my wife there. It’s my alma mater…I have been a fan since I was born.”

Being a State College Area High School and University Park alum, Nebraska fans almost bought into the narrative that Rhule was the Nittany Lions’ next head coaching ticket. That’s when Compton entered to turn down the heat. On the October 14th episode of the Up & Adams show, Compton shared, “My confidence level, 1 to 10, about Coach Rhule staying, I think it’s a 10. I think what Coach Rhule and I have built over the last three years is a very promising future for Nebraska.”
Counting on the Nebraska alum’s take, Portnoy came with an opposite narrative. “I texted Will [Compton] to be like, ‘Why is your coach leaving?’ He said, he don’t think he’s leaving but there are tornado sirens going off in Lincoln,” he stirred up some fear on the Barstool Gambling podcast. But if Rhule chooses to step out of Nebraska, it might make Compton’s wish come true.
On the September 6th episode of Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, Will Compton faced a hypothetical yet relevant question: “If Rhule does take the Penn State job, would you interview for the Nebraska head coach position?” And Compton could no longer hide his strong wish to hold the head coaching throne in Lincoln. “I would have a learning curve getting to that level. But let’s just say hypothetically I know everything there is to know about being a head coach. Absolutely. I’d be trading in a microphone for a whistle, and then I’ll carry on the legacy… This would be destiny,” he confessed. But for now, he is soaking in some good vibes from the Ann Arbor camp.
