Just when fans were locked in on the Natty, a surprise came. While they will have to wait for yet another year for this day, they have a reason to look forward to 2026 with Nick Saban in it. The GOAT and his wife, Miss Terry is back starring as the face of a new TV series to tick off a long-time dream.

“ESPN announces new 6-episode ESPN Original Series, ‘Saban’ 🏈 Highlighting the life & career of college football coach Nick Saban,” ESPN PR tweeted on January 19.

In 2017, ESPNU spotlighted P.J. Fleck, Minnesota Golden Gophers’ head coach, in a four-part series, capturing the journey of one of college football’s youngest head coaches.

Cut to 2026, ESPN has joined forces with Words + Pictures to roll out Saban, a multi-episode docuseries spotlighting his rise and revolutionary impact.

“There will never be another Nick Saban,” observed Connor Schell, CEO of Words + Pictures.

With Russell Dinallo at the helm and a powerhouse production team including Connor Schell and Libby Geist, among others, this series dives into Saban’s epic career. Seventeen seasons at Alabama, seven national championships, one with LSU and six with Alabama, and the transformation of the Crimson Tide into college football royalty, Saban’s dynasty will come alive on screen.

He developed four Heisman winners along with countless NFL talents. Saban holds a record of 201 wins, the SEC’s second-highest mark, trailing only the legendary Bear Bryant.

Throughout his journey, Saban has leaned on his wife of 50 years, Miss Terry, who has been the anchor behind the coach’s every triumph and challenge.

“With my coaching days behind me, Ms. Terry and I have been doing a lot of reflection and realized we were ready to tell our story,” the GOAT said in a statement. “The team at Words + Pictures has encouraged me to really look back not just at my time at Alabama, but every stop along with way.”

Back in 2019, ESPN+ tapped Saban for a guest spot on the inaugural episode of Detail. He joined a star-studded lineup that included Kobe Bryant and Peyton Manning. ESPN’s present series will include more than 30 hours of interviews with Saban. There will be 80-plus conversations with players, coaches, rivals, family, and insiders,

ESPN is keeping the premiere under wraps for now. But the announcement sparks memories of Saban’s decade-long vision finally coming to life.

Nick Saban’s promise to write an autobiography

Saban: The Making of a Coach, an unauthorized biography by Monte Burke, hit shelves in August 2015. Back then, the coach was 63 years old and in his ninth season at Tuscaloosa. Saban vowed to write an autobiography one day, but only after he’s done calling the shots on the sidelines.

“One of these days when I’m finished coaching at Alabama, I’ll write an authorized book,” the head coach said. “Because there’s really only one expert on my life, and guess who that is? Me.”

In the book, Saban didn’t speak for himself. But the ESPN series gives fans a closer look at both the legendary coach and the woman who’s been by his side.

Terry quietly dominated the recruiting trail, turning families into fans and moms into believers. When ‘pay-for-play’ culture started clashing with her vision, she knew it was time for Saban to step aside. Since retiring, Saban has a minority stake in the Nashville Predators through Dream Sports Ventures. No surprise, Terry fully backs the hockey squad.

Together, the couple launched the Nick’s Kids Foundation. Time will tell how the ESPN series will capture every chapter of Nick Saban’s legendary journey.
