They say behind every successful man there is a woman. In the case of Travis Hunter, he is a lucky man. While Travis’ father has been away from the kids, serving for having possession of a firearm or ammunition, he and his brother, Trayvis, have been raised by mom Ferrante Edmonds. Travis has already proved himself in college and flown off to the NFL, and Trayvis is still in the making. However, Edmonds is not just known for her sons’ fame. Rather, she is a strong woman who has carved a professional path by herself and is a respected person in society. With this, one can guess how Edmonds hardly gets any time to rest. With Travis off to the pro league, Edmonds is now busy performing cheerleading duties for her younger son. 

At just 17, Trayvis had already made waves at OT7. On the first day of the competition, OT7 was all about Travis’ brother. So much so, it was difficult to take one’s eyes off the wide receiver from Effingham County High School in Springfield, Georgia. With this, he has landed in direct comparison with the 2024 Heisman winner. On March 16, MaxPreps posted clips from Trayvis’ heroic feat with the caption, “Trayvis Hunter is BALLING in #12 just like his big bro 🤞🔥 @_tray.4 @ot7.” Talent runs in the genes. But the credit goes to Edmonds for keeping her sons focused on their goals in tough times. So, she won’t mind cheering up for Trayvis on a hot day. On May 15, Edmonds posted a live session on IG. The caption read, “Just like that! Trayvis spring football game!” 

Trayvis totaled 496 receiving yards and six touchdowns in nine games in 2024. Edmonds could see her fight for her sons paying off. However, the climate is already tipping high notes. As Edmonds shared on the live, “It’s too hot.” But nothing can beat a mother’s love for her sons. So, Edmonds, too, is beating the harsh climate to see her younger son soar high. The sophomore from Georgia is a 2027 college recruit. But he has already gained the spotlight and even grabbed a deal with Adidas, like his big bro Travis. And Edmonds could not be any prouder. Now that she cheers for Trayvis, not allowing the heat to ruin her plans, she has some high hopes.

“He got a scrimmage, a spring game. It’s kicking off. Once he start the trend is going to be starting soon.” However, as we know, Edmonds believes in spirituality and wants the best to happen not only to her kids but other kids as well. As she shared,  “Mark my words. It going to go down for all our players…all our kids are going to prosper in this football game. Not just football game, but life in general. So what I ask everybody is to just push. Keep going, keep showing up, the more you dress up, the more you feel good. The more you feel good, the more you deliver. So, I’m out here in the heat, supporting.” Just like Travis, do you know his mother, Edmonds, also holds a special honor? 

Ferrante Edmonds’ faith in the Almighty earned her a special tag  

While brother Travis and Trayvis spread magic through their athletic skills, mother Edmonds does it with her words. She has been an amazing orator when it comes to sharing knowledge about God and the Almighty. And this brought Edmonds the biggest honor. She was awarded a special badge. It read, ‘Woman of God.’ It marked a tough time for her as a mother. After all, during that period, Travis’ draft stock had hit a major low, to No.7 pick. 

That’s when Edmonds went viral with her speech at the Can We Talk Sports show’s Sports Mom Conference 2025. When life throws her a curveball, she leaves everything in the hands of the Almighty. A part of her speech read, “So the doors that God has for you, nobody can shut… So why are you worrying about addressing something… I don’t have time to go back. If I’m going back I am missing the blessing that have for me in the front.” 

Now, her son, Travis, is about to step into a new chapter, with the buzz of his marriage to fiancée Leanna Lenee going around, what did Ferrante Edmonds say? “Well, the summer I’m expected to be booked and busy. What do I mean by that?” Unfortunately, not for the marriage prep. Edmonds remained tight-lipped, focusing on her duties as a mother. After all, she is now the mom of an NFL player and another college football star in the making. At the same time, she looks forward to contributing to the community back at her home in Florida. For the ones wondering about the source of the Hunter brothers’ toughness, they got it from their mama.
