Deion Sanders might have planned to rebuild the Colorado Buffaloes brick by brick after bidding farewell to his sons for their next chapter in the NFL. However, something came out of the syllabus. Deion might be having flashbacks from 2021. Talking about Coach Prime’s struggles with health? He recently fought against bladder cancer. It has been only two months since he crossed the health hurdle, and he is back at it again. No, nothing new.

But his old foe has made a comeback, that is, his foot pain. However, Deion does not like to put his fans in the dark and cleared the air. This made the Colorado fans worried as they poured in their prayers. On October 4, DNVR Buffs analyst Scott Procter tweeted, “Coach Prime says he feels like he has more blood clots. He’s recently felt pain in his foot again and says he has a doctor’s appointment Monday.”
It is as if the 35-21 loss from the TCU Horned Frogs was not enough for the Buffaloes fans to handle.

Out of everything, Deion did not expect the blood clots to make a return. Looks like the pain has become unbearable for Coach Prime to handle. “It doesn’t make sense. I’m hurting like crazy,” Deion said Saturday, adding he has an appointment with a doctor on Monday to investigate the issue.

“I’m not getting blood to my leg. That’s why my leg is throbbing.” While dealing with extreme foot pain, he has not taken any time off from his duties.
Deion spent much of the fourth quarter of Colorado’s 35-21 loss to TCU coaching with only one shoe on his left foot. The coach, who had his big and second toes amputated in 2021 following post-surgery complications, is no stranger to pain, having endured a month-long hospital stay during his Jackson State days.
The Buffs’ head coach has battled through more than just opponents this season. Deion desperately looked for comfort, still managing lingering pain in his surgically repaired foot, which required additional surgery after taking over in 2023.
Now, he wears custom shoes to ease the discomfort. Yet the pain flared up on Saturday, forcing him to spend parts of the game seated on a sideline stool.
Besides being left with a limping foot, Deion admitted he can’t last an entire game without a bathroom break. The Buffs, ever adaptive, installed a Depends-branded portable restroom on the sideline. Now, fans are concerned about their favorite Coach Prime’s health.
Fans pray for Deion Sanders while fearing the worst
A Pro Football Hall of Famer, now in his third season as CU’s head coach. Deion is now 58 and has had so many health battles. It will be difficult for Coach Prime to give his 100% focus to the program. “You know what’s coming at the end of this season.”
A fan is already scared of the future, out of the formidable rivals, Deion and co. Already took a loss against BYU and TCU. Colorado faces a tough stretch ahead, with Iowa State and Utah lined up back-to-back before closing the season against conference leaders Arizona State and Kansas State.
It has become a recurring trouble for Deion. In a conversation with Dr. Don Jacobs and Dr. Max Wohlauer, both vascular experts, and Dr. Kenneth Hunt, a foot and ankle specialist, Coach Prime shared how he felt pain while riding a stationary bike or doing leg curls or leg extenders.
Now that it has returned and interrupts Deion’s everyday life, a fan wrote, “Hope he can make it through the season. Might be time to remove the foot.” His left leg’s scans revealed dangerous aneurysms in the upper thigh, with clots shedding small fragments that kept blocking blood flow.
It’s not the right time for Deion to fight health battles. He only has Deion Sanders Jr. by his side, and Shedeur and Shilo are off to the NFL. That’s when a fan poured in some prayers, “Damn , get well prime.” Deion might have walked into this season with many expectations after wrapping up the last season with a 9-4 record. And here came the uninvited troubles.
Colorado fell into the hands of Georgia Tech, accepting a 20-27 loss, then came the 36-20 loss against Houston, and a 24-21 defeat against BYU. That’s when the fan jumped to the conclusion, “Team got prime stressed out 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️.” He had already given a heads-up to the players, “You got a lot of fellas going back to Texas… You’re going home. You’re going to the crib.” But they failed to make Deion proud.

One month into the 2025 season, the college football programs have now hit a new trend. That’s the firing of head coaches. UCLA relieved DeShaun Foster, Virginia Tech fired Brent Pry, and Oklahoma State let go of Mike Gundy.
A fan could already smell danger looming for Deion Sanders, “Starting to feel like this will be his last season…” But for that, Colorado will have to let go of $8 million. Will the Buffs afford to pay that?
