October 20 is going to be a big day indeed. The 2019 Sugar Bowl was the last time Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Longhorns gave Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs a hard time. In case Texas is hopeful of the narrative to change, ESPN College Gameday host Rece Davis dropped in to pop their bubble. Sarkisian’s squad might be No.1, but going by the numbers, Davis’ hopes are pinned on the No.5 Dawgs. But that shouldn’t have been the case since Sark’s squad now enjoys the privilege of two QBs. However, the Dawgs HC Kirby Smart remains unfazed.
The countdown has started! Smart and the Bulldogs will be making a landfall in Texas to face off against the Longhorns who boast the No.1 defense in the country. Isn’t that enough to scare the Dawgs? Not at all. Instead, Davis comes up with a different take on it. During his recent interview, the analyst dished out a bold claim, “Texas hasn’t seen anybody like Georgia or like Carson Beck.”

Winning is in Dawgs’ psych. He then gives a special mention to Stetson Bennett IV, “They’ve seen a former walk-on quarterback making his second career start.” Besides, the analyst throws light on how Smart has fortified their fortress, posing big threats to the Longhorns, serving as the toughest test to date for Sarkisian’s squad. “The best passing offense they have seen up to this point is UTSA,” claimed Davis.
But please don’t get the analyst wrong. Like he said, “I believe in Texas but they haven’t seen anything like what Carson Beck and the boys are going to bring to town.” Enough of discussions. Now let’s concentrate on the statistics. Smart’s QB has thrown for over 1,800 yards in the first six games of the season. Not just Beck, Georgia wide receivers Arian Smith and Dominic Lovett both have over 300 yards this season. On the other hand, the Longhorns have two signal-callers protecting their gate. Does this rob off Smart’s good night’s sleep?

No fear in Georgia HC Kirby Smart’s playbook
Not at all! Right now Smart has taken a chill pill when it comes to facing off Texas. For the past few weeks, Sarkisian had a hard time dealing with his QB dilemma. When Quinn Ewers fell prey to an abdominal injury, the Texas HC landed in a soup. Even though he had his backup QB Arch Manning to count on, somewhere he was unable to relieve himself from the stress. Finally, the day has come when he can let out a big sigh of relief as Ewers is going to make a return.
With two QBs on board, Smart and Dawgs were supposed to be in the backfoot. But as long as Smart is around, the word ‘fear’ gets no entry in Georgia’s playbook. So no matter how strong the Texas QB duo might come off as the Dawgs HC refuses to be disturbed by the dual QB threat. Instead, he has been the bravest of the brave and stated, “It doesn’t change how we prepare.”

Have an interesting take?
Meanwhile, things are a bit different in the Texas hood. The Longhorns DB Michael Taaffe is already scared of Kirby Smart’s QB. “He can put the ball wherever he wants to. He’s had a great career. The offense goes through him. And so we have a really, really good challenge ahead of us,” confessed Taaffe. Buckle up, folks! Saturday is the day we find out who’s flying high.
