It has been just been few months since GOAT Saban gave up on his head coaching duties and had been investing in pure family time. However, little did he know that months later he would lose his biggest supporter, forever. While Saban is still dealing with it, it has been no less than a personal loss for the CFB fans who poured in their tributes.

Remembering Mary Saban’s role in Nick Saban’s life

The news was posted by Tuscaloosa News which came up with Mary Saban’s obituary. Later on, it was Nick Saban’s daughter, Kristen, who confirmed the news when she posted her grandma’s picture on her Instagram story Thursday night, August 29 with the song Heaven by Noon. Mary was a Michigan native who was born on July 29, 1932. She is now survived by a large family comprising her two children- ex-Alabama HC Nick Saban and Dene (Leroy) Thompson, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mary’s demise would cast a long shadow over Nick Saban’s life. His mother has been a constant presence in her children’s lives and was the first one to support their athletic endeavors. A part of her obituary in the Tuscaloosa News captured Mary’s contribution, and it read, “Mary supported the Pop Warner Black Diamond Football team, working concessions and decorating the bus which Nick Sr. drove to pick up the boys from all the small inaccessible areas in the hills of West Virginia while both of their children participated.” And how did the fans react to this loss?

Nick Saban’s grief unites his fans

The tweet from Sidelines-Bama was filled with condolences from not only Crimson Tide’s fans but from the CFB world at large. A fan could not even fathom the rough patch Nick Saban will have to go through and commented, “Fuuuuu*k.” Since the ex-Crimson Tide HC often spoke fondly about his mother which made her a known face among the Alabama fandom, one of them sent out his prayers, “Thoughts and prayers for the families.”

Another fan, too, poured in his respect, wishing solace in her afterlife, “RIP Prayers to Coach Saban and the Saban family.”
It pains a fan’s heart who gets concerned about the GOAT who happened to be very close to his parents, “My heart breaks for this close-knit and supportive family.  My thoughts and prayers go out to them all. But extra love and prayers to Coach who never shied away from appreciating the love and lessons from his parents. God Bless.”

“I can only imagine the amazing woman she was to have raised such an incredible man with such a giving heart. Condolences to the entire Saban family and all who knew and loved he,” another fan attributed Nick Saban’s fine character to his mother. Now this void will reverberate through the GOAT’s life.
