That’s what you call the power of college football! Support and love always runneth over. Here enters the Saraland High School athlete and Alabama’s 17-year-old freshman Ryan Williams. Being a phenom himself, it did not stop Williams from coming up with the big boost for fellow teammate and star QB Jalen Milroe.

Kalen DeBoer’s ‘Julio Jones’ is believed to have created a sweet bond with Milroe with whom he had put up a strong performance that in turn gave Crimson Tide to have a 21-0 lead over Western Kentucky. And when Milroe scored his debut win, Williams had to pour in!

Ryan Williams dives into high praise for Jalen Milroe’s talents

The Tide keeps rolling in Tuscaloosa even without their all-time favorite HC Nick Saban. In the first chapter of the Kalen DeBoer era, the squad remained mighty with a 63-0 blowout over the rivals Western Kentucky. While Milroe didn’t have much opportunity to put up his talent show on August 31 night, the ones he did were impactful enough. This was enough for his 17-year-old teammate, Williams to go gaga over Milroe’s fiery performance. In an interview with the reporters, the five-star WR highlighted the QB’s key strengths, “I mean, four plus two does equal six, so that’s probably the best thing I can say about it.”

The QB’s perfect timing sense earned him Williams’ praise. “He always just puts it in a perfect place, and I just got to do my job.” The 21-year-old QB went 7-of-9 and ran for 200 yards. Not just this, he caught hold of 3 touchdowns while at the same time adding 10 rushes for 79 yards paired with two back-to-back touchdowns. However, even though the 17-year-old WR remained lowkey amidst Milroe’s talents, it’s high time that Williams earns his due credit.

Alabama soaks in Ryan Williams’ debut delight

If you think that being only 17 years old would stop Williams from securing great heights, then you are mistaken. At such a young age, the WR caught two touchdowns in the first half of his Alabama debut. The first stint in his college career was not bad at all. After all, Williams recorded a total of 139 yards on the two catches. Even though he is supposed to be in high school, the WR recorded two catches, one 84-yard TD and another 55-yard TD after leading his high school team to a state championship in 2022.

The five-star prospect had been reclassified to the 2024 class from the 2025 class for the sole purpose of boarding DeBoer’s program. And definitely, it has been one of the best decisions for Alabama. Williams’ power-packed talent enables him to find separation from West Kentucky’s defenders.

With this, he paved his own path and ran up the right of the field, pushing Crimson Tide ahead by 21 points. And here, QB legend Jake Coker had a sixth sense for Ryan Williams. Back in July, he had dropped a bold claim, “He’s [Williams] Kalen DeBoer’s Julio Jones.” Jones is one of the top WRs in the league known for his deadly talent to catch balls. The comparison to Julio Jones reveals just how high Williams’ ceiling is!
