If you think it’s only Deion Sanders and the Buffs who are desperate about bringing in Julian Lewis, time for you to get a new update. Looks like, Michigan Wolverines debut HC Sherrone Moore is very much interested in the recruitment race. No, like Coach Prime, they are not running after the USC QB commit. Someone else seems to have left Moore and Co. on their toes. It’s none other than one of the top cornerbacks in the nation. But all of a sudden why so much of desperation? Maybe the new HC is making up, filling the loopholes left by their ex-HC Jim Harbaugh

The Wolverines are already in deep soup, moving into Week 9 4-3. But Moore is trying to ward off all the bad juju by trying his hands on recruitment. Their prime target now is 2024 4-star CB Shamari Earls who decommitted from South Carolina back in July. The CB carries an impressive record of his personal bests by recording 25 tackles, 4 pass breakups, and 3 interceptions on defense. On October 24, Michigan insider Clayton Sayfie shared On# recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong’s tweet with the caption, “Michigan doing some serious work here ⬇️.”

But what makes it tough for Moore? Well, as we all know, Harbaugh left back a barren program for the debut HC to take over. Analysts Stewart Mandel and Bruce Feldman rightly discussed on The Audible With Stew & Bruce podcast as they delved deep into how the odds got stacked up for Moore. Putting Harbaugh under fire, one of them commented, “I just think if you’re as long as you’re the head coach of Michigan or any team you know, you have a responsibility to make sure you have the best possible roster the next year, whether you’re going to be there or not.”

So no matter how deep soup Moore is in, he did not give up on pursuing Earls even when Kirby Smart and the Dawgs won the CB’s commitment. But the fight was still on. And good news is the CB is slated to officially visit Ann Arbor. Hold on, as something bigger awaits! As per WTKA host and Michigan insider Sam Webb this time the maize and blue tribe would be successful in flipping Earls. Not just the CB, as another big possibility looms around.

Sherrone Moore takes baby steps toward filling the gap

Obviously, the after-effect of Harbaugh’s sabotage could not be met with landing just one 4-star recruit, that too Moore is not sure about it. With this, the Wolverines have kept the gates open and this time it’s for the 5-star quarterback. And who’s this charmer to have caught Moore’s attention? The 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback who has been committed to the LSU Tigers since January.

By now the Michigan fans might have already guessed the name. For the ones who still haven’t, here’s the last and the biggest hint- he is the No.1 overall prospect in the 2025 class. Okay, let’s not keep you waiting any longer. It’s Bryce Underwood. Now you must be wondering, if Moore had no strong ground what made him take this risk when the QB already had Colorado’s eyes on him? Well, that’s because reassurance came from Barstool’s Dave Portnoy who promised $1-3 million NIL money for a transfer portal quarterback. Interestingly, it was not only the money game.

Besides, the cash flash, Sherrone Moore might have got a big shot of self-confidence. After all, the Wolverines managed to hijack the 5-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola, the best player in Kansas. Are these mini-victories enough to make the recruits forget they once questioned Michigan’s future with no Harbaugh at the helm?
