There has been a preconceived notion that only FBS football gives birth to great college quarterbacks. Gone are those days. The FCS programs now boasts its own able signal callers. This season there have been quite a few of them. For instance, Missouri State’s Jacob Clark who has thrown for 1,530 yards and 10 touchdowns through five games. And how could we forget Cornell’s 6-foot-1 passer, Jameson Wang? He completed 71% of his passes for 591 yards, topped with seven touchdowns and no interceptions. But right now, there is only one quarterback who deserves all the limelight and praise. And that’s Cam Miller.

The senior came into the game with over 3,000 yards passing and 31 touchdowns. Plus he now owns a quarterback rating of 207.1. From the very beginning of the FCS National Championship, Miller took charge. Even though Montana State’s defense got a couple of stops inside the 5, they couldn’t keep Miller out on third and goal.

The North Dakota State QB went 3-3 for 44 yards and added 16 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground as well. Mind you, it was no ordinary touchdown. Rather a 64-yard rushing touchdown! The Bison went empty on a huge 3rd and 4. Surprisingly, there was not a single Montana player to stop Miller.
The field was all open. And Miller rushed through the gridiron and sauntered 65 yards down the middle of the field. That’s how the quarterback had cast a magic spell on the gridiron. Well, he did not have any magic wand; those long and sturdy legs did the work! That touchdown jaunt capped a five-play, 92-yard scoring drive for Tim Polasek’s program. Now what’s the secret behind the Miller X NDSU collab?

The catalyst for Cam Miller’s growth
It’s the trust in the HC and the program. From childhood, Miller was taught to stick it out and work harder. So, even when in 2023 December, words started to flare up that he would leave Bison, the quarterback came up with a straightforward answer. He confidently stated, “The answer was always no. I think this place aligns with everything I believe in, and there was really no question of going anywhere.”
Polasek’s coaching style, one of more fire, energy, and enthusiasm, has been enough to fuel his hunger to do better. And aren’t we getting enough results? He now leads one of the top offenses in the nation. As per the stats, the North Dakota State quarterback has completed 78.3% of his passes this season.

Now it was his biggest chance to be his best version. After all, big things await for Cam Miller. As per the reports, after the FCS National Championship, Tim Polasek’s quarterback will return to Texas to compete in front of NFL scouts at the East-West Shrine Bowl. There he will be competing against the best of the best in college football, such as Shedeur Sanders and Mark Gronowski. But not to worry. He now has a shiny 64-yard TD record to show off!
