Woah! The Paul Finebaum saga does not seem to end any time soon. The “irrelevant” remark aftermath still continues to keep the CFB fans at the edge of their seats. After a month, it’s time for Colorado Buffaloes HC to reply back to the analyst. And as he did, he got a shoutout from his dual-threat Travis Hunter. As the 2024 kickoff is knocking at the door, instead of highlighting his own talents on Instagram stories, Hunter dedicated the space to highlight Deion’s brutally apt response to Finebaum. This is not the first time that the two-way star has stood up for his program.

Deion and Colorado Buffaloes have always been in Finebaum’s bad books. The latest blow came on July 15 when the ESPN analyst served a hot take for Coach Prime and Co. On being asked about the chances of the Buffs in the SEC race, the analyst did not mince his words when he claimed, “Deion Sanders is. He’s a standalone person … he’s one of the most charismatic people we’ve ever seen. But Colorado is nothing. They don’t matter. They’re irrelevant in the big picture.” A month later, Deion could not allow to let it slide. And in Hunter’s story, we get to see a glimpse of the fiery comeback.

As shared by the two-way star, the video clip is from Deion’s interview on Robert Griffin III’s podcast, Outta Pocket where the ex-NFL star just had to dig up the Finebaum hoopla. Coach Prime started by claiming that their popularity is hard for the analyst to resist, “But he is talking about us. How can we be irrelevant and you talking about me. Like, every time I turn around, somebody is sending me a quote that you’re talking about me.”

When Griffin’s wife, Grete Griffin inquisitively asked whether Finebaum is Deion’s fan, the Buffs HC confidently responded, “Well the thing about a fan, you got to understand, a fan only blows when you hot, so we must be hot.” It somehow gives Hunter’s soul immense satisfaction to see his idol standing up for himself and the program. Maybe, all this is because the player is putting himself into Deion’s place at times.

Travis Hunter steps up as hype-man for Deion Sanders’ tribe

Now that the Buffs need to gear up, a few days back during the second week of August, Hunter had been spotted in a new role. Instead of training himself for the Big Day, the dual-threat was seen performing Deion’s role of hyping up the squad. And what was his motivation mantra? The same-old Coach Prime’s formula that instills the hunger for leadership.

Hunter sprinkled some salt on the fresh wounds, “We got 21 more days. Everybody doubting us.” Now that it’s common for the analysts to pass Deion’s army as a “trash team” it further enhances the hustle for the top spot. Even the predictions did not stand in their favor. The Big 12 poll that involved 61 media members handed out their prediction for the Buffs to finish at No.11.

But where there is Travis Hunter, he ensures to show any demotivation, the exit door. And that being said, the dual-threat kept on feeding the players’ brains with motivational potions as he stated, “Whatever they got to rank, we have to show them better. We got to be the No. 1 team. We got to go at this and just keep working.” Time for Deion Sanders’ army to make the doubters take back their words.
