NFL superstar JJ Watt comes out as a top fan of the Colorado Buffaloes dual-threat Travis Hunter. While the CFB world is brimming with high energy for the August 29 Big Bash, the Arizona Cardinals’ defensive end arrived to further oomph up the Hunter factor. And guess what? Watt is not at all interested in the 2024 season opener. Instead, he still basks in the EA Sports craze.

But why? The NFL player strongly believes that EA Sports failed to give Hunter his due credit for his catching talents. Watt termed EA Sports’ ignorance as a “glitch.” The Buffs’ two-way star is still associated with his 2023 “wild” catch.

JJ Watt lauds Travis Hunter’s catching skills

Now that the 2024 season marks the last chapter for Hunter in college football, NFL attention is not entirely surprising. It seems that Cardinals star Watt has had his eyes on the two-way star for quite some time now. He has also been heartbroken about how EA Sports failed to capture the real talents. He posted on X, ““That was a glitch on EA Sports” What a great way to describe that Travis Hunter catch. Incredible snag.” But what’s the hoopla all about?

Hunter has established himself as a brilliant catcher, so much so that when the two-way star appeared for EA Sports, he fell short of living up to his own standards. But lucky Hunter! Instead of big shots stripping off the Buffs’ two-way star, it was aligned as a glitch on the video game’s end.

All this started last season when he shot to fame after coming up with some master moves against the TCU Horned Frogs. Hunter’s “wild” catch is still etched in the memory of the CFB fans, where he came up with the perfect amalgamation of his top-notch anticipation and speed. This was enough to intercept a throw from TCU QB Chandler Morris and usher in victory. And what about this season?

Travis Hunter’s Heisman buzz intensifies after his August 29 rage

2024 presents Hunter with the last opportunity to showcase his talents in the college football landscape. And no wonder he succeeded in claiming all the spotlight. However, it’s not that he had a smooth ride. Hunter got harassed by Bison Corner Jailen Duffie and had a flag thrown on the play. But so what? He refused to hit the pause button and instead caught his third touchdown.

Not only Watt, but Hunter also became the absolute favorite of NBA superstar LeBron “King” James, who tweeted on August 29, “MAN TRAVIS HUNTER IS RIDICLOUS!!!!! WOW.” As the Buffs’ two-way phenom delivered a hat-trick of receiving touchdowns, it became a smooth ride for Deion’s army to beat Tim Polasek’s squad 31-26 at home. Here came the entire breakdown of Hunter’s score from the August 29 rage — offensive snaps: 35, defensive snaps: 43, receiving yards: 116, touchdowns: 3.

This led to memes circulating on social media stating that NFL scouts were already looking for Travis Hunter, sparking discussion of him acing the Heisman race. As NBC Sports’ Nicole Auerbach highlighted, “Travis Hunter is already doing everything he needs to do to be in the mix for the Heisman Trophy.” His fourth-quarter performance against North Dakota State will stick with the Heisman voters for a long time.
