At this point, the news around Aaron Rodgers‘ signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers is rare. But amidst his off-season moves and speculations about whether he’ll join the Steelers or not, his passion for golf always stands out. Remember back in 2023, Rodgers—yes, the quarterback—quietly checked off a major bucket list item: winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Yup, that really happened.

The four-time MVP quarterback teamed up with Canadian pro Ben Silverman, and despite Silverman missing the pro cut, Rodgers’ clutch play helped them finish 26-under, edging out the competition by a stroke. It was Rodgers’ ninth try at the event, and his name now sits on Pebble Beach’s Wall of Champions alongside legends like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.

Fast forward to now, and Rodgers is back at it. Oh no. He isn’t participating in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Trust me, it’s wilder than that. On Sunday, Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan reported that ” Aaron Rodgers has allegedly joined Nevillewood Country Club. The beautiful suburban Pittsburgh golf course. Designed by Jack Nicklaus.” What’s interesting about that, you ask?

Well, for months, the rumor mill has been buzzing that Rodgers is ready to sign a deal with Pittsburgh, and both parties are on the same page. Though neither the quarterback nor the team confirmed any deal, joining the golf club in Pittsburgh is the closest thing that Rodgers did regarding his deal with the Steelers. “Another sign he’s signing with the Steelers,” Fillipponi wrote.

After all that went down, the NFL legend Dorin Dickerson took to his official ‘X’ handle and shed light on the news, stating, “This is 99.9% accurate. Can confirm.” Sounds thrilling and exciting, right? But hold up before y’all start getting hyped and throwing a party. Because CBS sports anchor, Rich Walsh, has got a little something to get off his chest first.

“This rumor is NOT true,” Walsh wasn’t sugarcoating it. Loud and clear. ” I just spoke with the Club at Nevillewood President Wayne Chiurazzi, who said Aaron Rodgers did not join. The Club would love to have him if he does sign with the Steelers. It is true that Nevillewood is a beautiful Pittsburgh suburban golf course.” There you go. We’re back at square one.

Just like the never-ending buzz about Rodgers signing with the Steelers, the talk about him showing up at Pittsburgh’s Nevillewood Country Club just keeps going too. On one hand, Rodgers is out here tossing clues like he’s leaning toward the Steelers—on the other, the team’s owner just dropped a bombshell, making the Steelers’ QB room a lot more interesting.

Aaron Rodgers wants to come to Pittsburgh

At this point, the Steelers’ QB room feels like filling out a group chat with no clear admin. There’s just vibes and question marks everywhere. At this point, they’ve got Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and the rookie Will Howard. Now let’s be real—the Steelers brought back Rudolph, no doubt. But he isn’t giving the QB1 vibes. Then there’s Thompson…Well, the guy just played 10 games across three seasons.

And the way things are shaping up, they’ve picked Howard to develop behind a veteran. So, who’s going to be that veteran QB? Aaron Rodgers is the top contender. And the team’s owner, Art Rooney II, has adhered to his statement. After day two of the 2025 NFL draft was done, Rooney made it clear that Aaron Rodgers wants to come to Pittsburgh.

“We’re still kind of getting the same signals that we’ve been getting recently,” Rooney said. “He does want to come here, so I do think we may get word soon.” Ever since Ben Roethlisberger hung up his cleats a few years ago, the Steelers have been stuck in the quarterback conundrum. They’ve tried a bunch of ’em, but none screamed franchise QB.

With Rodgers expected to arrive in Pittsburgh, it’s safe to say that the Steelers are eyeing to pick their franchise QB in next year’s NFL draft.
