Just eight weeks into his surgery, Aaron Rodgers is already planning his return to the NFL. The Jets‘ veteran had his Achilles tendon fixed via surgery on 13 September. He was initially ruled out from the entire season, with 3 months just accumulating for the healing of the area. But the 39-year-old has made unexpectedly quick progress and is already out of his support. The speculation started flying when the quarterback was seen throwing a few yards before the Jets’ game against the Eagles last month.

Per an earlier interview, Rodgers had initially planned to come back by December end. He teased a particular date via a cryptic Tweet, largely keeping it mysterious. But now, the quarterback has clarified his expected comeback timeline for the first time since surgery. And it’s shockingly early.

In an interview with NFL reporter Melissa Stark, Rodgers disclosed that he was planning to come back to the league by mid-December. He also explained that the act is possible regardless of how crazy it sounds. Insider Ari Meirov has shared the update on Twitter.

I know it sounds insane, but if you do a good surgery, have a good patient, it makes this possible”, Aaron was quoted, as per Meirov. And the timeline is way shorter than earlier anticipated 12 months, or even the average 8 months to get back into a competitive level, let alone it being the NFL. It’s miraculous how fast the Super Bowl XLV champ has moved forward!

But it was not a first from Rodgers, his comeback hints have been circling for quite a while now. Last month, during the event of the Breeder’s Cup, Rodgers had likely set his comeback on a particular December day, with a few images of a wristwatch and a calendar.

Is Aaron Rodgers on the track to match his timeline?

Last month, in an interview during the Breeder’s Cup, A-Rod revealed that he had plans to return by the year-end. Although it was regulated by multiple factors to consider, he remained positive that the comeback could happen this year. He also marked the date of December 28, 2023, in a calendar and uploaded the images on social media alongside some pictures of a wristwatch, further teasing the idea. Now after a few weeks, he has shortened the waiting period even further. It remains to be seen to what extent his hintings could be true. But if they are, they’ll be a reason for celebrations as well as a big relief.

Defying everything, if Rodgers had to come back, it would be an early Christmas in the Jets camp. The team is fighting at the 3rd place in the AFC East, and once seeming hopes on quarterback Zach Wilson have long been diminished. Nothing is going right for them at the moment as the permanent HC-less Raiders became the latest to humiliate them this Sunday. If anyone could make things right or at least create new hopes, it would probably be Aaron Rodgers. And the veteran is just hoping for that moment to come.

My story of becoming an NFL writer is as interesting as my story of becoming an MMA practitioner. Coming from such a sport where athletes look to knock the brain cells off each other for a living, I liked the aggression that American Football had to offer. Before I even realized it, I religiously started following American football, picking up the most challenging in-depth write-ups.
