Tis’ the year for Notre Dame as they finally came out of their National Championship drought after over a decade. For Penn State? Nah, the drought has continued since 1986. Ouch! Thanks to Mitch Jeter’s final second 41-yard field goal in the Orange Bowl as Notre Dame thrashed Penn State out of the park with a decisive win of 27-24. But wait for a second because Amon-Ra St. Brown’s brother has something to say.

The ex-Notre Dame wide receiver and Brown’s older brother, Equanimeous St. Brown, recently appeared on his St. Brown Podcast with his brother when discussing Notre Dame’s Orange Bowl victory over Penn State. “Oh my God, like, we’re so good. We’re so lit,” Equanimeous said who was at the game in Miami. Now, here’s when it gets interesting.

During his chat with Amon-Ra, he didn’t hold back when he spoke about how things went down. According to him, it wasn’t just the competition that Notre Dame had to deal with—it was the referees, too. And when he said that, he was not mincing words. “The refs were cheating,” he says. “It’s like we gotta beat the refs, we gotta beat the other team.”

Honestly, when you go back and watch the game, you might start to wonder if Equanimeous has a point. There were indeed some questionable calls throughout the game that got St. Brown yelling like crazy. ” (I) watched the game, was yelling Crazy, lost my voice,” he said during the podcast with his brother.

That’s some serious talk, right? I mean, one team is out there that hasn’t been to the National Championship game for over a decade while the other is trying to turn the tables since 1986. And when they enter the field, what happens? The refs decide that ‘yeah, we’re gonna take a side this one time.’ Seriously?

Orange Bowl: Full of wrong calls

Hold up. Equanimeous seems to believe that the refs were doing their best job to make sure Penn State had a fighting chance. Because, why not, right? But here’s the thing. In the fourth quarter, Notre Dame’s Adon Shuler was called for pass interference, and believe me, it was a big one. Why? Well, his teammate, Jack Kiser, had just made an incredible interception off Penn State’s quarterback Drew Allar.

But, of course, the refs threw the flag on Shuler for pass interference, which totally wiped out the pick. Instead of getting the ball back and possibly sealing the deal, Notre Dame had to watch as Penn State got a fresh set of downs, and that drive eventually led to the end zone that gave them the lead for a hot second.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the refs really try to hand Penn State the game, or was Notre Dame just unstoppable?

And if that wasn’t enough, there were a few other calls—or should I say, lack of calls that might get you scratching your head. In the early fourth quarter, the cornerback, Christian Gray was attempting to tackle the opponent’s RB, Kaytron Allen, when his jersey totally got held by Julian Fleming. Wann guess what happened next? No flag came out. That’s it! That kind of stuff added fuel to the fire as the fans started calling out the refs.

All in all, after fighting Penn State and the refs, Notre Dame advanced to the National Championship game after 2013. However, they still have to wait to find out their opponent between the Texas and Ohio State. Wish the refs remain neutral this time!
