It is regarding the new wideout Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and his phenomenal skills. While Mahomes is happy with this “nice addition” as he praised the professional, the veteran coach hasn’t also shied away from giving Mahomes’ player assessment two thumbs up as Kansas City plots its latest offensive renovation.

Speaking to reporters today, Reid backed up his QB’s take on the burner they plucked from Arizona. “Hollywood Brown is a you know good speed receiver..he can play Within the offense and do all of the different routes..so he’s a nice addition and he’s got some experience and and production,“ Reid stated.

This powerful statement of the coach came after Patrick Mahomes had been blown away by Brown’s route-running prowess in addition to those blazing wheels everyone expected. “I’ve been pleasantly surprised by I mean just the way he’s able to get in and out of his Cuts he has a good feel for space um and uh he wants to like I said he wants to learn more and more,” Mahomes raved about their early offseason work together to reporters today.

This dynamic duo of quarterback and coach being locked in on Brown’s skillset is critical. After all, they’ll be tasking the 26-year-old pass-catcher with reprising that field-stretching, No.1 wideout role Tyreek Hill once owned.

Mahomes drawing parallels between Brown and Hill, arguably the premier deep threat of this era, speaks volumes. As does Reid’s eagerness to move Brown “around a little bit” once he has the PlayBook downloaded. “He’s flexible that way so we’ll be able to move him around,” Reid told reporters during the NFL Annual Meeting. They see an X-factor in the making.

That offseason homework will be pivotal for Brown integrating into KC’s aerial attack that hit an all-time high for drops last year. Suddenly, the pressure’s on “Hollywood” to get open consistently for Mahomes and become that go-to guy. A mammoth task by any measure…

Then there’s the mental hurdle of downloading Reid’s dense PlayBook while building chemistry with Mahomes. Failure to get dialed in quickly and Brown could be “Showtime’d” right off the roster. A big season hitting the 1,000-yard mark could net Hollywood a massive long-term deal next offseason.

Finally, Brown’s path to becoming Mahomes’ go-to target is blocked by other young pass-catchers. There’s the embattled but “arguably most talented” Kadarius Toney, per Reid. Not to mention KC could double-dip at WR in this draft, potentially adding a stud like Xavier Worthy.

At the end of the day, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes may agree on Marquise Brown’s tantalizing upside. But turning that potential into actual production as Kansas City’s true WR1? That’s a gridiron storyline still waiting for its leading man to make it must-see TV.
