After playing 67 games for the Cincinnati Bengals and serving as one of their defensive cornerstones, linebacker Logan Wilson finds himself in the Dallas Cowboys squad. Despite being a Bengals fixture and a respected leader, earning praise from ESPN’s Todd Archer, Wilson’s time with the Cincinnati Bengals is officially over.

Archer recently highlighted the 29-year-old’s character, quoting his remarkably composed attitude about playing fewer games on his social media handle X.
“Pretty mature answer from Logan Wilson on how he handled not playing much as the year went on with the Bengals.”

In his statement after being traded, Wilson focused on how he always tried to remain true to himself and impart his knowledge to his teammates, who were competing for his position.

“I made a promise to myself that I wasn’t going to change who I was. I wasn’t going to stop pouring into the rookies just because they were playing over me … My legacy as a person was more important to me at that point. It was tough but it was just a part of my path and I’m excited to be here.”
In Week 3, the Cincinnati Bengals started deploying rookie Barrett Carter more often, saying they wanted to keep veteran linebacker Logan Wilson fresh for the long season. Six weeks later, that plan completely dissolved. Logan Wilson, a 29-year-old with 541 career tackles was traded to the Dallas Cowboys on November 4, 2025, in exchange for a seventh-round pick.

But there was one person who couldn’t control his enthusiasm for the trade. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn’t mince words about his excitement, emphasizing Wilson’s immediate fit for the defense’s current needs. Jones stated,
“Some guys have the ability to see a certain key and at the same time take a step up in the hole. He knows how to get in the gaps right now. For what we need right now, he can come in immediately and help us at linebacker,”
Wilson’s arrival is expected to be a significant boost for the Cowboys, especially as they look to contend in the highly competitive NFC East. As it turns out, this move wasn’t just a front-office decision. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor reportedly honored Wilson’s request for more playing time, giving him the chance to find that opportunity elsewhere

Wilson was a third-round pick by the Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft and had spent his entire career in Cincinnati up to this point.. He was also the Bengals’ longest-tenured defensive player.
Lately though, his snaps started to dip as rookies Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight took on larger roles in the Bengals’ two-linebacker sets. Because of his reduced role, Wilson officially asked for a trade on October 23. After the trade became official, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor spoke about Wilson’s departure. The coach shared his appreciation for what the linebacker brought to the team.

“I appreciate everything Logan has done as a player and as a person during his time in Cincinnati,” Taylor said. “He has been a central part of our defense over the past six years, and he will be remembered as a leader in our locker room. I wish him the best moving forward.”
Though there were 2 years remaining on his signed contract with the Bengals. The Cowboys will be paying him the rest of his salary, as per reports by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. The remaining amount, which needs to be paid, is said to be $2.684 million.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are currently at a 3-5-1 record, not the best start, but they’re still in the playoff race. They are hoping that bringing in Wilson will be the boost their defense and team desperately need.
