Chad Johnson didn’t hold back his words when blasting the rampant trade rumors surrounding Bills star receiver Stefon Diggs. The outspoken former NFL wideout delivered a brutal message aimed at keeping one of the league’s most productive pass-catchers in Buffalo. Johnson’s forceful stance cut against the growing uncertainty about Diggs’ future with the Bills after some cryptic social media posts.

During a recent appearance on the Nightcap YouTube livestream, Johnson fired off a straightforward verdict: “God damn right! You gonna keep Stefon Diggs. One of the best wide receivers to ever play the goddamn game.” He pointed to Diggs’ gaudy stats of 107 catches for 1,183 yards as obvious reasons why Buffalo can’t let him go.

Johnson doubled down with an emotional plea about the Bills’ championship window. “As a Bills fan, as a Josh Allen fan for me, what are you telling your fans?” he asked rhetorically. “The window of opportunity, it ain’t that big,” Johnson argued that Buffalo needs its elite quarterback-receiver duo intact to maximize its title chances. “Who is your biggest offensive weapon outside of Josh Allen?” he challenged.

He emphasized the Bills must find ways to get Diggs and Allen operating at an elite level together for an entire season. “Some teams have figured out a way to get their best players [rolling] all throughout the entirety of the season and not allowing [opponents] to dictate what they want to do offensively.” The host believed that Buffalo’s dynamite pair is too talented to have stretches of sub-par play.

With his brash persona, Johnson seemed to have a unique perspective on Diggs’ situation in Buffalo. The former star wideout vehemently believed the Bills cannot let their elite passing combination disintegrate over “the business side of things.”

In his blunt message, Johnson was vocal when instructing Diggs on the necessity of realigning with Josh Allen and Bills management. “I need you to call Josh Allen. I need you to call management – upstairs and downstairs – that you all on the same page,” Johnson stated emphatically.

The six-time Pro Bowler recognized how special Buffalo’s quarterback-receiver partnership is, urging Diggs to do whatever it takes to preserve it. “I know what you could do, they know what you could do. The rest of the world knows what you could do,” Johnson said, highlighting Diggs’ elite abilities that have seen him record over 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last six seasons.

From his perspective, Diggs getting re-synchronized with Allen should be the top priority for both the receiver and Buffalo’s decision-makers amidst the cryptic “Ready for whatever” social media post that stoked trade rumors. While the Bills are still favored to retain the 30-year-old star, Johnson’s hardline stance leaves no ambiguity – any rifts must be mended to keep one of the NFL’s top passing combos intact and the title window open.

Johnson’s staunch views run counter to speculation the Bills could look to trade Diggs after June 1 to save over $19 million in cap space for 2024. Especially after Diggs’ production dipped down the stretch in 2023, averaging just 45 yards per game over the final seven weeks.
