It’s a back-to-back win for the Kansas City Chiefs. Only this time, the four-time Super Bowl champs didn’t even give their opponents a chance to put points on the board. On Sunday afternoon, the Chiefs dominated the Las Vegas Raiders 31-0 at Arrowhead, improving their record to 4-3 heading into Week 8.

Right after the game, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had a few words of wisdom for Raiders head coach Pete Carroll. “My heart goes out to Pete,” Reid said, per Vahe Gregorian of the KC Star. If Reid has anything to say about Carroll, it’s all respect. Before the game, he was asked for his thoughts on Carroll’s approach.

“Pete, who we know has done this once or twice, he’s a heck of a football coach,” Reid said via Raiders.com. Fast forward to now, and with a 31-0 win, the Chiefs have now defeated the Raiders 10th time in the last 11 meetings, per ESPN.

The Chiefs dismantled the Raiders on both sides of the ball, offensively and defensively. The rest of the work was done by Las Vegas’ injury complications. For starters, KC’s offense was as good as it could be. KC racked up 434 total yards, with 282 through the air and 152 on the ground.

Patrick Mahomes was nothing short of phenomenal, completing 26-of-35 passes for 286 yards and finding his receivers three times for a touchdown. Isiah Pacheco led the ground game, rushing for 57 yards on 15 carries while also scoring a touchdown. On the receiving end, Travis Kelce added another strong performance, leading the passing game with 54 yards on three catches, nicely complemented by Rashee Rice. The defense?

The Chiefs were nearly good on the defensive side of the ball. They limited the Raiders to just three first downs and 95 total yards. Geno Smith had another rough outing in his debut year with the Raiders. The quarterback completed just 10-of-16 passes for 67 yards and called it a day.

Ashton Jeanty was supposed to lead the rushing attack just like he did in the last few weeks. But against the Chiefs, his performance came flat as the rookie running back carried just six times for 21 yards. And as we mentioned before, the injuries did the rest of the work in the Raiders’ humiliating defeat. Maxx Crosby exited in the second quarter. The DE took a blow to his left knee from the Chiefs’ TE Noah Gray and didn’t return.

On top of that, the Raiders’ TE, Brock Bowers, also held out Sunday due to a knee complication. Meanwhile, the Raiders’ wideout, Jakobi Meyers, was listed as questionable due to a knee/toe issue. Long story short: It surely took us seven weeks to say it, but Andy Reid’s team has now started to look familiar in results. The silver lining? Their WR1 has also returned to the roster.

Andy Reid’s wideout returned and scored a pair of touchdowns

Earlier this season, rumors were flying that the Chiefs were eyeing a reunion with the Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill. But that never panned out. Turns out KC wasn’t actually interested. The reason, however, was simple. They had full faith in Rashee Rice, even though he was staring down a six-week suspension.

Fast forward to now, and the Week 7 matchup against the Raiders marked the first time this season the Chiefs had their full receiving corps on the field: Rice, Hollywood Brown, and second-year wideout Xavier Worthy. Rice also made his season debut for the Chiefs. And let’s just say, he met all the expectations the team had from him.

Rice caught 7 receptions for 42 yards and racked up a couple of touchdowns as well. On the Chiefs’ opening drive, Mahomes connected with Rice on a 2-yard shovel pass, capping off a 92-yard drive and giving Kansas City an early 7-0 lead. Fast forward to just before halftime, and with just 10 seconds remaining, Mahomes found Rice again. This time, on a 3-yard touchdown reception, extending the Chiefs’ lead to 20-0.

And from here, there’s no stopping Rice. Sitting at 4-3, the Chiefs will now host the Washington Commanders in Week 8.
