The Kansas City Chiefs will travel to Highmark Stadium for a massive showdown against the Buffalo Bills. CBS Sports will broadcast the game, with the familiar duo of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo serving as commentators. But according to Nantz, this Week 9 matchup might not be an easy evening for anyone involved, all because of Patrick Mahomes.

“Well, you definitely have to have your eyes open,” Nantz said on NFL on ESPN when asked about how it felt to call Mahomes’ games. “Because he’s going to pull off some things that don’t you just don’t believe, and you may miss some of the nuance if you’re not careful.”
Well, that is true.

- Remember when he threw an underhand pass to running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2021 against the Philadelphia Eagles? It was a blink-and-you-miss-it pass.
- Against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 this season, Mahomes’ no-look pass on a hitch route also had many confused for a moment.
Talking about the no-look pass against the Raiders, Nantz stated: “Patrick welcomed back Rashi [Rice] and they connected for a couple of touchdowns, but there’s a point in the game where [Mahomes] did another one of those no-look passes. He was looking this way, and he went over here, and it’s hard from the booth.
“You see all 22 on the field, and you also have a giant monitor in front of you. Sometimes you’re looking downfield to see if someone’s breaking open, but had I not seen [Mahomes’ no-look pass], it would have been just another normal pass.”

That game ended in a dominant 31-0 victory over Las Vegas. Mahomes looked good: he completed 26-of-35 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns. But things don’t end here. He had another moment in the game that left the Raiders scratching their heads.
During the first play of the second quarter, Kansas City players—Mahomes behind center, Creed Humphrey and tight end Noah Gray, and running backs Kareem Hunt and Brashard Smith—lined up. Gray first went about doing a short motion to draw the defense offside. Smith did a similar motion before Mahomes commenced with his Oscar-worthy performance.

“F—, it never f—ing works, man!” Mahomes yelled, throwing his hands up. The Raiders thought they wouldn’t snap the ball… that was until three seconds later, the QB took the snap, fooling the Raiders and even analyst Tony Romo. Hunt received Mahomes’ handoff and hurried off for a 3-yard gain.

All that said, Mahomes might need some new tricks up his sleeve because his team is gearing up for a tough game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. And both sides will put their best foot forward.
Patrick Mahomes prepares to face his biggest rival
The Bills are riding high after a dominant 40-9 win over the Carolina Panthers and are looking to maintain their strong start. Meanwhile, the Chiefs have recovered from their early-season struggles, winning a string of games. And this Sunday, both teams will face off once again.

It will mark the 10th time that Mahomes and Josh Allen will face each other. While their regular-season battles have often gone the Bills’ way, with Allen holding a 4-1 edge, the Chiefs have been nearly unbeatable in the games that matter most. Kansas City won all four of its playoff clashes.
Plus, the Chiefs’ offense is flying high, so the Bills need to try to score a lot. And with Rashee Rice’s return from his suspension, Kansas City might flood the field with him.
