Essentials Inside The Story

  • Patrick Mahomes' younger sister Zoe Mahomes is carving her own path
  • Her rise is about a growing belief that this might just be the beginning of something much bigger
  • Brittany Mahomes also steps back into the spotlight with a major honor

While Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to dominate the NFL, his younger half-sister, Zoe Mahomes, is proving that athletic excellence is a part of their family trait. Instead of the football field, Zoe is making waves on the soccer pitch, where she has become a standout player in her own right.

It’s honestly impressive to see Zoe’s hard work paying off like this so early on. Her dedication is already yielding major results. She’s currently holding her own with Sting Black 2013, a Texas-based team competing at the ECNL level. Her team was recently honored as Team of the Week, a milestone she celebrated on Instagram by tagging her father and using the humble caption:

At a recent game, Zoe really stood out. Even though she’s only 11 (about to be 12 next week), she played up against some of the best 2013 teams in the area.

Zoe didn’t just fill a spot on the roster; rather, she earned a spot in the starting lineup and played almost every single minute of the tournament. It was a huge performance that proved she can more than hold her own against older, more experienced players.

Patrick Mahomes’ father, Pat Mahomes Sr., who has been the most supportive of his daughter’s interest in the sport, couldn’t stop himself from commenting under the post.

“Baby girl doing her thang as usual,” he wrote.

What stands out most to those watching her journey is that Zoe isn’t relying on her famous last name to get ahead.

Coaches and fans have noted via social media postings that Zoe is incredibly humble, easy to coach, and consistently one of the hardest workers on the field. They believe she has just started making headlines and will surely continue to do so, just like her brother.

If one has to talk about the family as a whole, then the Mahomes family definitely knows how to keep the spotlight on. Even with Patrick off the field following that ACL injury in the 2025 season, the family remains an active topic for fans to talk about.

Young Zoe is already making waves, which isn’t a huge surprise given the potential Zoe has shown over the years, but she isn’t the only one in the news. Just a few days ago, Brittany hit a massive career milestone of her own.

Brittany Mahomes gets awarded a major honor

Brittany Mahomes just overcame a personal milestone. On Saturday, March 28, she was officially inducted into the University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) Athletics Hall of Fame. Responding to the honor, she said:

“This City and this School are a huge part of who I am today, I will forever cherish this honor and am forever grateful for what this program did for me as an athlete and as a person!”

Brittany was honored alongside Dr. Howard Patterson and the 2016 Softball Team as part of the university’s sixth Hall of Fame class. While many know her as the partner of Patrick Mahomes, this ceremony was a reminder of her own roots as a powerhouse athlete.

The honor shifted fans’ focus away from the NFL sidelines and back to the soccer pitch, celebrating the hard work and talent that defined her own career long before she was in the national spotlight.

Brittany played for the UT Tyler Patriots for four years, to be specific, from 2013 to 2016. During her time, she put up numbers that still sit near the top of the record books. During her four-year tenure, she scored 31 goals. Her best performance came during her senior year in 2016 as she scored a total of 18 of the total 31 goals. In 2016, the then-Brittany Matthews also recorded the best single-season run in program history with 40 points.

According to school records, she holds the second-most points and goals (31) in the program’s history. She wasn’t just a scorer; she was also a consistent playmaker who led the team in assists and game-winning goals.

Her final season was a major highlight; she tied a program record by scoring three goals in a single match on four different occasions.

UT Tyler Athletics didn’t hold back in their praise, as they described her as “one of the strongest careers in women’s soccer history.”

Even after finishing college, Brittany didn’t let the athlete in her fade away. She kept playing professional soccer overseas and started helping others stay fit as a certified personal trainer. Now, as a co-owner of the Kansas City Current, she is driving the growth and elevation of women’s professional soccer on a national scale.
