The Kansas City Chiefs might be on a bye week after that rough 28-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills, but it doesn’t look like Patrick Mahomes and the crew are spending this Sunday sitting around. Sure, they’re off the NFL clock for now, but they’ve still got some game-day energy left, just redirected.

Instead of suiting up for football, the Chiefs are throwing their support behind the Kansas City Current, the NWSL powerhouse co-owned by Brittany Mahomes. On Sunday, the Chiefs posted a clip of their players, led by Travis Kelce, cheering for the KC Current, as the team has qualified for the playoffs.

“Let’s go get them championships, let’s go, baby,” Kelce stepped in with his trademark enthusiasm, giving the KC Current a quick morale boost. And you can tell the reason.

It’s the third time the KC Current are heading into the playoffs, and they’ve now done it in back-to-back seasons under head coach Vlatko Andonovski. Last year, they locked in the No. 4 seed and hosted North Carolina in their first-ever home playoff game, grinding out a 1-0 win. Their run, however, ended in the semifinals with a narrow 3-2 loss to the top-ranked Orlando Pride.

Fast forward to now, and Brittany Mahomes’ squad looks even more dangerous. The Current enters the postseason as the league’s No. 1 seed, ready to face the No. 8 seed Gotham FC this Sunday. And if the regular season is any hint, KC holds the edge. They’ve already beaten Gotham twice, 2-1 on the road in June and 2-0 at home just last month. And to make it more interesting, Brittany and the Chiefs’ players are all in to show their support for the KC Current.

Brittany Mahomes and other players wished good luck to the KC Current

Brittany Mahomes has been following the NWSL season closely. And right before the KC Current takes on the Gotham FC, she was the first to set the tone, bringing her signature energy to the moment. “Let’s GOOOO! Time to show up, KC, it’s PLAYOFFS,” the co-owner shared the fiery message via her Instagram story.

Then came the Chiefs players, echoing that same Kansas City spirit. Trey Smith kept it short and confident, saying, “Good luck KC Current. Y’all got it.” Then came wideout Rashee Rice, who followed up with a more detailed good-luck message of his own, keeping the momentum rolling as the Chiefs rallied behind their hometown NWSL squad.

“Good luck man,” the Chiefs’ wide receiver started. “Ball out. Wish I could be there to support. I’m gonna be here supporting all day, all night. Let’s do it.” And to wrap things up, defensive end George Karlaftis and center Creed Humphrey kept it short and strong, closing out the video with a simple yet powerful, “Good luck.” The message was brief, but it was enough to show support for their hometown squad. From Arrowhead to CPKC Stadium, Kansas City rolls as one.
