Let’s discuss the good, bad, and ugly of the Washington Commanders after their 38-14 disappointing Week 9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Good: Jayden Daniels returned under the center after missing out on the Week 8 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs due to a hamstring strain. Bad: Daniels went down again with an elbow injury and is now sidelined indefinitely.

Ugly: The Commanders’ offense has been hit hard by injuries, especially the WR corps. Against the Seahawks, the team’s wide receiver, Luke McCaffrey, broke his collarbone on the opening kickoff. And if reports are anything to go by, McCaffrey likely won’t be back for the rest of the season. A double-blow for the head coach, Dan Quinn.

McCaffrey has played a supporting role on the Commanders’ receiving corps, having caught 11 receptions for 203 yards through nine weeks. But given that he’s fractured his collarbone against the Seahawks, he’s now slated to be placed on the injured reserve. That means only one thing: the wideout is now expected to miss at least the next four games.
McCaffrey got hurt on his 19-yard return during the game’s opening kickoff and was immediately ruled out for the rest of the game. The team hasn’t made any comments on his return timeline or whether he’ll require surgery to repair his collarbone. However, his injury turned out to be a massive blow for Dan Quinn and his offense.

The reasons are plenty. For starters, Terry McLaurin missed the fifth game of this season as the star wide receiver re-injured his quad. To make things worse, Noah Brown hasn’t suited up so far, as he’s still been on the IR. The only silver lining? Deebo Samuel has returned from his heel injury. But then again, Quinn and Washington have lost their starting QB once again. This time, to an elbow injury.
Jayden Daniels went down with yet another injury this season
It’s been a rough second season for reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels. He’s already missed three games (Weeks 3 and 4 with a knee issue and Week 8 with a hamstring strain). Fast forward to the Seahawks game, he did suit up and completed 16 of 22 passes for 153 yards with no touchdowns and one interception, but ended up suffering an elbow injury along the way.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the quarterback has dislocated his elbow. Per Rapoport, Daniels’ X-Ray reports are negative, sure. Still, the quarterback is now expected to miss the next few games. Daniels suffered the injury in the fourth quarter with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation.

With the Commanders trailing 38-7, Daniels scrambled to his right but was brought down by Seattle linebacker Drake Thomas at the Seahawks’ 4-yard line. During the tackle, his left elbow bent awkwardly backward, and he was clearly in visible pain right after. But it’s not just the offense that’s dealing with injuries.
In the same game, the team’s cornerback, Marshon Lattimore, also suffered a knee injury in the third quarter. Now, the reports suggest that the CB has torn his ACL, which could affect the rest of his season. Long story short: The Commanders are struggling, sitting with 3-6, and it’s the injury bug that just won’t stop biting.
